Some of you might know the name Kristine 'Kristi' Yamaguchi from her figure skating days, winning two World Figure Skating Championships in 1991 and 1992, becoming the 1992 Olympic Champion in the ladies' single category, along with many other impressive milestones in her career including being inducted into the U.S. Olympic Hall of Fame in 2005 and being a contestant on the wildly popular reality television show, Dancing with the Stars.
I remember being a huge fan of Kristi's skating back when I was younger. One of my fond childhood memories is of when my mom, aunt, sister, and I gathering around the tv to watch the figure skating competitions. Kristi was one of my favorites and watching her glide across the ice on those skates and nailing those impressive tricks was thrilling to me; at times I even caught myself holding my breath through her performance!
After she retired from her skating career, Kristi somewhat disappeared. Until I was lucky enough to be a part of her #LifeIngredients webinar sponsored by Alpine Lace Cheese with some of my fellow bloggers and learned what she's really been doing with her time!

Not only did Kristi get married and start a family complete with a handsome professional hocky-playing hubby and two beautiful young girls, she's a published children's book author, a philanthropist who founded her own children's literacy charity, Always Dream Foundation, and she's an entrepreneur who started her own stylish activewear line, Tsu.ya (pronounced sue-ya).
How does she do it all and keep herself balanced you ask? That's a very good question because I'd like to learn her secret!
Kristi divulged a few of her tips, tricks, and secrets to how she keeps herself motivated and balanced through whatever life has to throw at her and I've picked my top 5 favorites to share with you all:
1. Prioritize
Let's face it, there's not enough time in the day to get everything done. The prospect of adding a couple more days to the week or a few more hours to the day is an extremely tempting idea, but not physically possible, so we need to take the few things that absolutely need to be done and prioritize those to get done above everything else. Once those are done, we prioritize a few more things and the rest, as they say, is history! And, of course, done ;)
2. Put exercise time on your calendar
I'll be the first to admit I'm guilty of forgetting to even move when I get involved in my work, let alone remembering to take time out of my schedule to exercise! Unfortunately my health is very temperamental so I sometimes can't get a good workout in, but when my health allows, I LOVE to exercise and I need to take this tip to heart.
3. Stay connected with friends
Just this past year, I've learned how important it is to stay connected with friends. I've met new ones, re-connected with old ones, and have done a lot of fun things like karaoke for the first time, dancing, dinner dates, sex toy bingo (yes, you read that correctly), etc. Kristi even admitted she indulges in many GNOs (Girl's Nights Out) with her girlfriends, which I can totally relate since my fantastic group of girlfriends and I try to set aside one day a month for ours!
4. Take 30 minutes of 'Me Time'
No matter how busy you are during your day, taking 30 minutes of 'me time' to do something you love and are passionate about is super important. Regardless of whether it's reading a book, taking a walk, soaking in a bath, being creative or whatever it is you love to do, DO IT! It's like a breathe of fresh air for your soul and you'll feel rejuvenated and ready to tackle what ever is on your to-do list next.
5. Have your Go-to Snacks
Having some healthy go-to snacks for you, your significant other, and or your children is definitely a major thing to remember, especially if you're always on the go! Instead of opting for the temptation of a drive through and unhealthy fast food, remember packing some healthy snacks doesn't have to be hard. Even simpler is keeping those healthy snacks stocked in the fridge; it's easy as open, grab, and enjoy gilt free.
One of my favorites is an apple with creamy peanut butter!

Taking a chunk of me time at least once or twice a week away from kids, work and family goes a long way! Cristicomes@gmail.com
I LOVe putting my exercise on my calendar during the spring time. It makes me feel so much better. Such great tips.
Learn to say no. You cannot do everything.
I need to put all of these on my mirror - I have been so bad about self-health lately
Finish one thing. IF you start that thing, just finish it. You may be behind in every other aspect of your life but at least that one thing will be done.
Great tips. I'm so bad at actually getting to my workouts. I put them on the calendar and then poof I get distracted and something else with more 'importance' takes its place. - Katy
I love the tips. My best is to finish what you start.
take 30 minutes of me time
I try to make to do lists to keep me organized and know what tasks I need to do - and so i can manage my time so I have time for me!
My best tip is to walk. If you can do nothing else, can't find time for any other workout. Just get out a walk for some fresh air. It can do a body (and mind!) good!

Must find time for yourself. Even if that means hiding in your bathroom to chill with your ipad!
My tip is to always plan ahead and be ready for anything.
Putting exercise on the calendar is helpful. I'm more likely to do it if it's written out on my to-do list.
set a goal you can achieve each day

Taking 30 minutes of me time is my favorite. I constantly forget to do that since I take care of everyone else.
Taking time to read my Bible and pray, going to the gym...these have become my priorities and when I keep them I feel much better about life.
i bought a fitbit to make sure i get my 10,000 steps in.. Last week i upped my goal to 15k so i have to make sure i make time! It's very motivating!
I just take time to myself when I need it.
I always try to stay calm and organized.
My favorite tip on trying to find (and maintain) life's elusive balance is to stay organized. In my opinion being unorganized leads to feeling terrible and making bad choices.
my tip to find balance is meditate and do yoga

To take much needed time for yourself.
Stay close to God, breathe, drink water, walk in the fresh air, take things one day, one issue at a time.

I always find a little me time during the day. Helps me stay focused.
I found balance by getting up earlier in the morning than anyone else in the family. It gives me a chance to re-charge my energy for the day and just enjoy the quiet before the hectic begins.

Take time out once a week to do something for yourself
I keep to do lists so I don't forget things. It feels good when I cross things off and reminds me of what needs to get done.
You need to learn to say no. You can't do everything and it's very important to say no when it's something you do not want to do or don't have time to do it.
I try to eat healthier.
my advice is to have someone workout w/ you who will support your goes and help you through every step.
also, put ice cream in the back of the freezer and put healthy fiber bars in the front of the freezer so you have to think twice about grabbing the ice cream.
alway have fresh fruit in the fridge.
and try to avoid buying junk food.
lots of water
I try to find time for myself. Whether it be a bath or watching a movie that makes me smile
