Entrepreneurship is no joke. Before I got sick, the word 'entrepreneur' was just that; a simple word among the many of the English language. A couple years after I got sick, I took a business class in high school where I learned a little more about what entrepreneurship actually was and how to take steps to become an entrepreneur.

Instead of being just another word in my vocabulary, it was more of a definition in my mind now.

In 2009 I actually transformed that single word and that word's definition into a real-life practice when I opened The Eclectic Element: Handcrafted and a year later in 2010 opened The Eclectic Element: Vintage.

Not only that, but I started The Eclectic Element, the blog you see today, as a marketing tool for my two jewelry shops and somewhere along the line it ceased being a marketing tool and became The Eclectic Element, a healthy living website.

So I suppose you could say I have 3 thriving small businesses. To me, it still feels weird calling myself an entrepreneur since all my websites were started out of boredom and necessity, but I suppose every entrepreneur out there had to start off somewhere!

Entrepreneurship is a topic that I feel very passionate about and the fact that A Billion Entrepreneurs, a documentary film detailing how being an entrepreneur can not only help you, but can change the world, is in production is an incredible step towards educating young and old alike on what it means to be an entrepreneur.

A little about the film:

"A Billion Entrepreneurs is a movement with the objective to plant the seed of entrepreneurship into multiple generations and re-define the word, “entrepreneurship” to mean, “Taking responsibility for outcomes,” which ultimately means taking responsibility for one’s life and current situation. A major catalyst was needed to jump start this movement, and spark people to get inspired to find their purpose in life, with the end result of living happier and more fulfilling lives. Therefore “A Billion Entrepreneurs” the film was created."

I for one can't wait to see this film flourish, not just because I consider myself to be one of the numerous entrepreneurs out there, but because being one of those numerous entrepreneurs, I want to see what I can do to make a difference in the world.

If you'd like to keep up with the film and the entrepreneur movement you can do so in any of the below linked social media accounts or you can sign up to receive email HERE. I think it is important people from all walks of life are inspired to ingenuity, and entrepreneurship! This sounds like a great movement to get behind!

I like that the video empowers people -- including kids -- to do whatever they are able. So many in our society expect something for nothing. When people realize that they CAN contribute SOMETHING, that's when things happen!

There is definitely a need to inspire more people to the entrepreneurial spirit. That's great this video will do that!

It is, I believe a strong spirit of so many women at home trying to make extra money and using their ingenuity and their skills to do whatever they can to do so. It has been around since time began but never was called what it deserved - Entrepreneurship.

What a cool documentary! Entrepreneurs don't always get the recognition they deserve.

This is such a great inspirational documentary more people should see. Many don't believe they can take the entrepreneur route and many don't recognize the hard work put into it. I'm so glad to see people want to put information like this out there!

People spearing ideas and running with them to make small business is what keeps this country's economy going. Working for yourself can be tough especially at the beginning stages of entrepreneurship so it's great to see a movie like this that inspires others to reach for their dreams!

It does seem odd to call myself an entrepreneur but that's really what it is. Great to know I'm not the only one.

So interesting.. I've never really considered myself an entrepreneur, but I suppose owning my own blog and turning that into a business is totally along the lines! Perhaps I need to shift the way I think about myself and my blog. - Katy

That is such an amazing idea! I like how they are supporting their idea by talking about others people's ideas.
