TVStoreOnline.com Snoopy T-shirt *Review*

When it comes down to it, I'm a nostalgic person. I love to reminisce with friends and family about the good ol' days; running around outside until all hours of the evening (that is until mom called us in), playing barbies and having lemonade stands on the corner...

Of course one thing from my childhood that holds a dear place in my heart are the late 80's, early 90's television shows. When I look at the television being produced today, nothing even comes CLOSE to holding a candle to shows like Animaniacs, Looney Tunes and who can possibly forget Legends of the Hidden Temple!

Don't even get me started on the old school classic movies.

At TVStoreOnline.com, their tagline is "Your source for classic TV and movie shirts and memorabilia." You can find all sorts of clothing and merchandise focusing around classic television shows, movies and video games to the more newer and popular television shows and movies like The Big Bang Theory and Scott Pilgrim vs. The World.

For this review, I was given free reign to choose a shirt that tickled my fancy. If you've ever browsed TV Store Online, you know this is quite the challenge in and of itself!

To be quite honest I took several hours looking through their products going back and fourth on what I liked better. When I finally thought I'd settled on something, I'd click a link and *boom* there was something else I hadn't seen.

To say they have variety would probably be the understatement of the year!

My indecisive self finally settled on a shirt and that little gem was the Peanuts Nerd And A Bird Iris Colored Juniors T-shirt.

We're big Peanuts lovers in this house so my choice was definitely approved, especially by my mother.

No more than 3 days passed since I submitted my t-shirt choice that I was finding a little package in my mailbox, so I was definitely impressed by the attentiveness and speed of delivery from this company!

When ordering my shirt, I did have a little issue with sizing options; the shirt I wanted was only available in a juniors size so I wasn't quite sure what size to actually get. Luckily, TV Store Online had things under control with their nifty little sizing chart. I still had to break out a tape measure to be completely sure, but it all ended up well. My shirt fits absolutely perfectly!

The quality of the merchandise was just another thing I was very impressed with. When worn, the shirt is quite soft and extremely comfortable. I have such a problem with similar shirts being see through so you'd have to wear something underneath just to stay modest but not this shirt.

If I wanted to wear something underneath, I have that option but if not, I don't have to, which makes me very happy!

{Click to Enlarge}

All in all, the attentiveness of the staff, quality of the merchandise and overall shopping experience of TVStoreOnline.com comes highly recommended by me! When I find a company that truly cares about their customers like this, I definitely like to pass it along to everybody :)

Sleep Texting, CNN.com & Moi

Apparently I'm a wee bit famous this week!

For those of you who have been reading me for awhile, you might recall a few blog posts detailing my sleep texting experiences with my boyfriend. If you want a little refresher, you can go HERE and HERE to see what I'm referring to.

It happens very infrequently since 2011 and has probably happened one or two more times since those two past blog posts. I honestly don't know why it happens or how it happens, but I do have my personal theories.

Originally, I thought this little quark of mine was just too funny not to share which is why I blogged about them after they happened. Unbeknownst to me, this is a hot button topic in this day and age of technology and this technology-dependent generation.

Because of those sleep texting posts of mine, I was contacted by a reporter from CNN.com to see if she could interview me and use my experiences in an upcoming article she was writing! I honestly had no idea what to expect so I said yes and just rolled with it.

After a 10 minute phone interview, I was told the article would be up by the end of the week. Towards Friday, I received a Google alert when my name was pinged...

The article was live!

If you want to read this interesting article, just click HERE.

Who knew blogging about something I thought was funny at the time would lead to me being on the pages of CNN.com? Go figure!

Things to Know: Filing for Social Security

Ever since falling sick in January of 2004, getting (and keeping) a 'real life' job has been mostly out of the question. Since then, there have been those ups where I thought I was doing good enough and had the opportunity to work, but those ups were far and few in between.

The longest job I held was the one when I was hired at the state park nearest my house back in 2008; worked from July until the beginning of October, experienced a relapse which usually happens in the Fall and had to quit. Thankfully it was only a seasonable job and the owner was extremely understanding, so it wasn't a big to-do.

Thinking back, I REALLY lucked out with that job; not many kids have that kind of luck with their first job.

Anyway, since my health is too unpredictable to be able to hold a steady job, social security has been on the to-do list for awhile. My jewelry only brings in so much money, but that's definitely not enough to live on. I have medical bills I'm responsible for and if I have any hope of venturing off on my own, I need to pull a Tim Gun--Make it work!

If you're in a similar position I am, I've taken the time to compile this easy-to-start social security guide. I sure would have benefited from an easy guide like this when I started this process...

SSI vs SSDI

There are 2 different kinds of social security: SSI (supplemental security income) and SSDI (social security disability insurance).

Social security disability insurance is for those people who have worked a job or jobs for an extended period of time and have contributed continual amounts of their steady income into social security though out the years. The income you receive from social security disability is dependent on your individual social security earnings record.

Supplemental security income is a program for people, such as myself, who haven't payed much into social security for whatever reason or another and whom have limited income and resources. The income you receive from supplemental security income is dependent on your needs and can vary depending on the federal benefit rate; as of January 1, 2013 the federal benefit rate is $710 for an individual and $1,066 for a couple.

Things You'll Need

1. Original Birth certificate

2. Original Social Security Card

3. Valid ID

4. Any and all medical information or other information that can help the process along, I.E. doctors you've been to, diagnosises and dates you've received them, etc.

5. Checking and or savings account numbers (for direct deposit purposes)

If you're interested in seeing a more in depth list of what you might possibly need, you can check out the Disability Benefits Checklist.

The Steps

There are a few avenues you can go from here once you've identified the specific type of social security you'll be applying for and gathering up the information you'll need. Once that's all done and taken care of, you can do one of two things:

1. Apply directly online and avoid the hassle of heading down to your local social security office.

2. Gather everything up and head down to deal with applying in person.

In my experience if you're applying for SSDI (social security disability insurance), you're more apt to choose the online route because it's pretty direct and straightforward. I ended up doing that the first time I applied, however I didn't do enough research and mixed up the two social securities ultimately applying for the wrong thing and getting denied because of my mistake.

If you're in a situation like me and need to go for SSI (supplemental security income), you have to take the time to apply in person because there is no online application for SSI as of yet. I highly suggest this route anyway; I had to drive 20 minutes each way and wait for about 2 1/2 to 3 hours for my turn to be taken care of but it was WELL worth knowing I did things correctly!

Waiting

Regardless of which social security you applied for, there is always a waiting process of 4 weeks to 8 months depending on the complicated nature of your case. For someone who has a pretty straightforward case, I'd assume you'd get your answer sooner rather than later.

For someone like me, my case agent who filed my application said it could take up to 6 to 8 months for the government to gather all my medical information and make a final decision whether to grant it to me or not.

Right now it's just playing the waiting game!

Since I was chosen as the spotlight dancer a wee bit ago, I got to chose today's theme! What did I choose? Songs that bring back good memories regardless of what they are; music, commercials, etc.

We're flashing back to high school, probably sophomore or junior year. It was after a homecoming dance and my friends and I were heading to a party at our friend's house afterwords. This song, which was VERY popular at the time, came on the radio and we all started just busting out dancing, singing and laughing!

Hope you enjoy my musical memory ^.^

While these are the censored lyrics, the video is a wee bit racy so little eyes beware!

Thorne Manor & Other Bizarre Tales *Book Review*

Author: Diane Wing
ISBNN-13: 978-1-61599-164-8
Page Count: 174 pages
Publisher: Modern History Press

Synopsis:

Heather recently left an abusive relationship and is looking to start anew with something she can call her own. She's always wanted to open her own business focusing on catering while bringing a metaphysical twist, so along with her relator friend Joyce, she's looking for the perfect place to bring her dreams into reality.

That's when she stumbles upon Thorne Manor and is instantly taken with it's vastness, beauty and haunting past.

Regardless of what people tell her, Heather knows in her bones that this house is meant for her and she'll stop at nothing to get it, even if it means ignoring people's warnings about the house's sinister past and borrowing money from her abusive ex-husband.

With the renovation of Thorne Manor underway, weird and bizarre things start happening; people are being pushed by unseen things, voices are being heard, a sense of foreboding felt every time someone nears the 3rd floor apartment...

Will Heather and all the gifted friends and renters she's gathered be able to rid this house of it's negative aura before Heather's dreams of independence slip past her reach?

My Thoughts:

Thorne Manor and Other Bizarre Tales encompasses several paranormal and metaphysical stories within its pages from renovating a mansion with an unsavory past to crossing paths with unnatural creatures to first time run ins with witchcraft.

I've always been interested in the paranormal and metaphysical aspects of life, so this book was definitely a treat to read, especially from someone who grasps those concepts quite fully in their life. It's most definitely a pleasure learning from those who are quite knowledgeable on a particular subject!

While the stories are pretty straightforward, if you look deeper, you can find a whole lot of meaning behind each and every one, which is something that I'm all about! I love stories that hint at a deeper understanding of the universe and the human condition.

This book contains Thorne Manor which is the longest story and several short stories after that which I really enjoyed! I don't normally get into short stories because it takes me a bit of time to get involved with a book to begin with, so to have something start and end quickly is difficult for me, which is probably why it took me so long to get through this book. That being said however, I enjoyed every story in here, long and short alike!

I can't say this book would be enjoyed by everyone, especially those a little shy towards things like witch craft, paranormal entities and demons, but if you're willing to give it a try, it's truly a wonderful book to read!

Here Comes The Boom *Movie Review*

{Image Credit}
Movie Synopsis:

Scott Voss (Kevin James) is a high school/night school teacher who has lost his passion for teaching in a rewardless and thankless job.

Along with his colleagues, Bella Flores (Salma Hayek) and Marty Streb (Henry Winkler), they're just scraping by until a faculty meeting where the announcement was made their school's music program would be cut and Marty would be out of a job.

Being there for over 10 years and having a baby on the way, Scott wouldn't let this happen to Marty!

With the help of Niko (Bas Rutten), one of his foreign students he's helping achieve citizenship, Scott devises a plan to raise money to keep the music program going; becoming an MMA (mixed martial arts) fighter.

After a rough (and pretty painful) start, things slowly start getting better for Scott. He finally has something he's passionate about and that, in turn, adds back passion in his job, his teaching and in his life.

Hilariously funny with a great message, Here Comes The Boom will have you on the edge of your seats rooting for the high school Biology teacher turned MMA fighter!

{Image Credit}
My Thoughts:

Honestly, when I saw the preview for this movie before it came out, I thought to myself, 'I'll pass.'

Just goes to show you you really can't judge a book, or in this case, a movie, by it's cover/trailer!

I really enjoy Kevin James in his television and movie roles and this movie was probably one of his best in my opinion. He's one of those funny-without-trying-to-be actors, which really made this movie.

Speaking of actors, this movie has quite the celebrity cast! Everyone contributed their acting style and brand of humor to this movie which, I think, is what made it so great.

The plot of the movie was pure gold! It was so far fetched that it was actually believable and aside from that, it was truly inspirational seeing as we are IN a time where a lot of schools throughout the country have to make cuts to their curriculum, ultimately making the students suffer.

Just goes to show you where there is a will and an individual that actually cares, there's a way!

Definitely a must see :)

Disclaimer:: I was in no way compensated for the above post. This is an opinion solely based on my thoughts and opinions of the movie in question and no one elses. I was not influenced one way or another to write the subject matter in this review, so if you don't like it or don't agree with it, that is your choice and I fully respect it so please extend me the same courtesy.

H2o Labs Countertop Water Distiller *Review*

Awhile back, I was lucky enough to be able to hold a water distiller giveaway for one of my readers thanks to H2o Labs. Do you remember the one?

After that specific giveaway ended and I chatted with the company a bit, I casually asked if they did or would consider doing a review of one of their units and to my utter surprise, they said yes! This was a pretty big deal (for me anyway) because while we buy purified and treated water for our household, when I spend days to nearly a week sometimes over at my boyfriend's house they only have....

....Tap water.

DunDunDuuuuuun......

Believe you me, I don't want to drink Rockford's tap water as much as the next health conscious person would but when you're thirsty and that's all there is available, you do what you've gotta do *shivers*

Before moving onto the unit, here's a little information to know about H2o Labs:

From numerous different countertop, automatic and industrial grade water distiller models to other things like fabric and garment steamers, shower and bath filters and replacement and cleaning products to keep your machines running in tip-top shape, H2o Labs has quality products that help you live a healthier and cleaner life. Boasting that distilled water is the best water for healthy living, you can check out their FAQ and Resource pages to educate yourself on the distilled water revolution!

Stainless Steel & Glass Carafe Countertop Water Distiller
I was lucky enough to be sent their Stainless Steel & Glass Carafe Countertop Water Distiller for this particular review!

Like I said earlier, this baby was eagerly anticipated and was supposed to be used for when I spend a few days at the boyfriend's house.

That is until my dad set his eyes on that lovely blue package! He's all about new gadgets, especially gadgets that he can use for prepping.

So what quickly was a normal review turned into a father-daughter project which, I cannot lie, was pretty fun! We don't normally get to do many things together so it was a nice bonding experience.

The unit itself was shipped fast, efficiently, and safely, all of which definitely impressed me from the get-go.

When my dad and I broke it open, everything that came with the unit could be found quickly and was beautifully explained in the instruction manual that came with.

People approach instructions and instruction manuals differently; some chuck them and try to wing it themselves and others treat the instructions like the Bible. I'm definitely the latter of those two people, so I appreciate the straightforward and simpleness of these instructions!

Not only did they detail what everything was, where to find it and where it went, but it gave easy to understand step-by-step instructions on putting the unit together from the very beginning to the very end.

One of the first things that had to be assembled before anything else happened was the glass carafe....

To be quite honest, that was the most detailed thing that needed to be put together out of the whole water distillation unit and it really wasn't that hard! Just goes to show you how simple this starting process was ^.^

Now, let's distill some water shall we? Here's my interpretation of a step-by-step guide on how to use this water distiller:

While I was thrilled with H20 Labs and their customer service and my dad and I were both thoroughly impressed by the quality of the unite and the easy, straight forward installation process, we were a little surprised at how long the distillation process actually took.

We started the water distiller at around ten to 5:00pm and the carafe didn't fill all the way up until way past 8:00pm; that's 3+ hours!

I can't really compare other model performances because this is the first water distiller I've owned, but I'll definitely say you're in for a wee bit of a wait if you want clean water.

That being said however, I think it's worth the wait for those who don't have a faster alternative (and no, bottled water does NOT count)! Not only are you getting clean drinking water with impurities removed that's doing nothing but benefiting your body, you're getting fresh water you'll ENJOY.

Not only that, but with this model, you can leave it on to distill your water overnight and as soon as it's done, it automatically shuts off. How cool is that!?

My parents ended up using the distilled water the next day to brew their morning coffee and both said it was delicious! Don't take my word for it though, just look at those before and after pictures; I'm sure they speak for themselves!

The folks at H2o Labs have extended a generous offer for my readers:

Use coupon code 2025 for $25 off any water distiller!

Now, onto the important musical business...

Since, in a few short days, it will be the day of love and romance, this week's theme is Love! The catch, however, is we can't pick a song with the word 'Love' in the title.

So, in honor of V-day, I'm picking my boyfriend and I's two songs ^.^

I've Been Fairy-Bombed!

After blogging for nearly 4 years, I thought I had seen it all; that nothing really surprised me anymore. That is until I started seeing posts by my fellow bloggers explaining they've been visited by a wee little fairy who calls himself the Fairy Hobmother.

This kind Fairy flies around the blogosphere, stopping at unsuspecting bloggers' blogs and bestowing upon them gifts just for doing what they love to do!

As has been explained to me, the way you merit a visit from this generous soul is by visiting those bloggers he has visited and leaving a comment on their Fairy Hobmother blog posts, which I have been doing every time I see a post in hopes of coercing Mr. Hobmother over my way...

I suppose it was my turn because I've been Fairy-bombed by none other than the Fairy Hobmother himself! ^.^

So, if you want a visit from the blogosphere's resident Fairy, make sure to comment on this post and follow his Fairy antics on Twitter @Fairyhobmother!

Oh, and we can't forget the Fairy Overlords over at Appliances Online who make the Fairy Hobmother's visits possible! If you're by chance located in the UK and are in need of an appliance upgrade, highly recommend you give them a little looksie ;)

Life Fulfilling Happiness & the Legend Betty White

There are certain things that I want to do before I die. We can say if I get these particular things done within my lifetime, by the time my 'time' is up, I can go with a big ol' smile on my face!

I don't quite have a physical list put together of said things that I want to do, but I can tell you a few off the top of my head...

-Travel the world.
-Participate in roller derby.
-Be an extra in a movie.
-Do a marathon.
-Marry my wonderful soulmate.

Oh, and one of the biggies: Meet Betty 'My Goddess' White!

While I can't say I know every single thing about her and her life, I CAN definitely say I'm a big fan of hers! I swear, if I could meet and possibly hug Betty White, I could die tomorrow and my life would be fulfilled *knock wood of course*

So, that being said, what is the next best thing to actually meeting Betty White?

Getting. Her. Autograph!

You read those 3 words absolutely correctly; I am now in the possession of a legitimate Betty White autographed picture thanks to my wonderful friend Emily, an equally as big fan of hers as I am.

For my birthday this past November, Emily actually went online and found an address to send a self addressed envelope with pictures you want autographed to Betty White. She was told it might take awhile, but Betty responds personally, autographing each picture and sending them back to the people who requested them.

Emily sent two pictures back in March of 2012 hoping they'd come back before my birthday, but alas, November 17th came and went and still no pictures. Fast forward two months and she got a little package with a return address of Mrs. Betty White!

Yes, I'm quite happy. How could you tell?!

This was probably THE best present someone could ever give me! I was afraid when I saw and held my picture, I'd actually cry. No worries though, I never ended up crying, but I did get awe struck and a wee bit teary eyed when I held it. LOL

Now all I need is to get a beautiful frame for this beautiful and important picture! Maybe even a few spotlights to shine on it.

I'm just kidding about the spotlights. Maybe ;)
