Gilded Reverie Lenormand Oracle Deck by Ciro Marchetti Review

It all started with a simple deck of tarot cards years ago as a Christmas present (yes, I know how ironic that is). Thus started my love of all things divination! That seemingly simple deck of cards helped me understand myself better and get more connected to my intuition; to this day I still have that original deck and have branched out to own several more!

Reading for people, as well as myself, is such a wonderful experience and gives me quite a sense of peace and understanding with each session that I do.

This is why I'm beyond thankful for the opportunity to review the newest edition of Ciro Marchetti's Gilded Reverie Lenormand deck because not only is it a new deck to play with, it's a whole new concept in and of itself to learn more about!

"The Gilded Reverie Lenormand is a continuation of a card-reading tradition dating back to the late 18th and into the 19th century. The design of this deck is to respect the tradition whilst providing a new vision for the future.

It is hoped that this Gilded Reverie deck provides you a wonderful tool of fortune telling, divination, and discovery; giving you access to an antique tradition in a contemporary presentation. As the Lenormand tradition is revived, these cards will come to speak more fully, and you are now part of that oracular voice, returning from the ages. Allow the cards to tell you their story and in doing so, discover your own."

The Deck:

This beautiful 36-card deck comes in a convenient and nifty little box that resembles a small book. This box opens on the side and is magnetized for safe-keeping of the oracle deck that comes inside. Aside form the oracle deck itself, you'll find a 48-page booklet which provides insightful and interesting interpretations for each card in the deck.

The cards themselves have a glossy sheen, are a size that make them easy to handle, and the card stock of each individual card is hefty and not easily bendable, all of which combine to make this deck quite durable!

I also think the golden gilded edges are a perfect touch to this deck!

The Artwork:

I will definitely say that the Gilded Reverie Lenormand 36-card oracle deck and its artwork is different than anything I've come across before, especially from the 3 oracle decks that I currently own. The artwork is derived from the original Lenormand deck, said to be created after Marie Anne Lenormand passed away, dating back all the way to the 1800's!

Ciro Marchetti, the artist of this deck, is an award-winning artist who has designed five tarot and oracle decks including Tarot of Dreams and Oracle of Visions. The newest creation of Marchetti has incredibly vivid colors and while the images are more simpler in design then what I'm used to, they're still exceptionally stunning. Then again I'm not really familiar with Lenormand decks (this is the first one I own), so it's no wonder that it's going to differ!

Above are 4 of my favorite cards just to display a little bit of what this deck has to offer.

The Messages:

Like the deck itself, the messages contained in the 48-page booklet were fairly new to me, somewhat resembling that of a regular tarot deck. Each card has it's own interpretation and they're pretty straightforward, describing each card and 'predicting' things such as love, success, and money to just name a few.

Don't let this seemingly simple deck fool you, though! It's extremely intricate when it comes to interpretation; each card's position in a reading has a significant meaning as well which is explained within the booklet. Not only do you interpret the card itself, but you also have to be cognizant of the spread you're using, the individual cards in each spread, and where each card is positioned because it's all interconnected to mean something.

While I prefer freely interpreting my own way instead of having guidelines, this deck definitely intrigues me and I'm quite excited to be able to learn more about it and the Lenormand legacy!
