Fall Back Into Blogging-Revisiting September

Since the first day of Fall has come and gone (September 22nd), it's time to really think Fall things; cozy sweaters, warm apple cider, colorful leaves, and the SITS Girl's Fall Back into Blogging Event

For the next 5 days, come back to see what the Fall theme of the day is--If you're a blogger, you can even play along and win some nifty prizes.

Today's theme: Past post link up

***********************************************************

Today's prompt encourages us to go back to September past and revisit a blog post we wrote on today, the 28th of September. Looking back in my archives for the past 3 years I've been blogging, I had not one post written on September 28th!

So I guess the next best thing is liking up a post from that particular week; in this case, we're going back to 2011 and sharing a post I wrote on September 22nd in honor of my wonderful mother's birthday.

Are YOU Creepy Enough & Dark Shadows DVD *Giveaway*

"From the incredible mind of Tim Burton comes the hit film Dark Shadows, based on the classic television series! Barnabas Collins (Johnny Depp) has been trapped for two centuries by an evil witch (Eva Green) who just happens to be an ex lover. Barnabas now has to struggle with the ever changing 1970s and save his families business! With an all star cast that includes Michelle Pfeiffer, Helena Bonham Carter, Chloe Grace Moretz, Jonny Lee Miller and more, Dark Shadows will be sure to whet your appetite for fun."

My mom was quite excited about this when she first heard it was being made into a movie; apparently it brought back a whole flood of memories from when she was younger and used to rush home after school to make it in time for the television show.

Personally, I was pretty excited it involved Tim Burton. I heart Tim Burton movies, especially his animated films!

I'm not going to lie, I was quite curious to see if I was 'creepy enough,' so I took the quiz myself and this is what I got:

"You Are Creepily Conservative...You most definitely have a tendency to flirt with evil but are far from truly wicked. Honestly...the necessity to suck the blood of the living is not high on your priority list, but you envision being a vampire would have its perks. You enjoy spending life on the lighter side and that’s perfectly fine...and although creepy might not be your first name, it certainly is your middle name! BAM!"

You hear that....BAM!

{Giveaway}

1 winner will receive a blu-ray combo pack of the newly released Dark Shadows!

Today's theme: Autumn craft or recipe

***********************************************************

I've only attempted this recipe once when I was feeling quite ambitious and had some pie pumpkins I didn't want to go to waste lying around--The whole process (2 whole days) I kept thinking, 'This is going to be one big epic FAIL.'

It ended up turning out and more importantly, being quite delicious!

I would post the recipe itself, but alas, it's not my own and I'm not exactly sure if I'd have the support of the author, so I'll just redirect you to the recipe.

By the way, that picture is obviously not mine-I went to find the picture of my pie and it was gone from Blogger!

Fall Back Into Blogging--Favorites of Fall

Since the first day of Fall has come and gone (September 22nd), it's time to really think Fall things; cozy sweaters, warm apple cider, colorful leaves, and the SITS Girl's Fall Back into Blogging Event

For the next 5 days, come back to see what the Fall theme of the day is--If you're a blogger, you can even play along and win some nifty prizes.

Today's theme: Favorite Fall memory or what you look forward to

***********************************************************

Like my post detailed yesterday, when Fall is in the air my family and I are most excited to hit up our local apple orchard to which we have been going to since before I was born!

It's most definitely a family tradition for all of us to go on Labor Day weekend when it first opens and at least a half dozen more times until it closes in November.

We love, love, LOVE their apple cider donuts, shopping in their lovely converted barn gift shop, looking at the animals in the petting zoo on the warmer days, sampling the apples they have to offer from their extensive orchards...

There's just so much to love about this place!

Raw Honey or Liquid Gold?

There's nothing sweeter than fresh, raw honey straight from the bee's butt!

Except maybe fresh, raw honeyCOMB oozing liquid gold directly harvested from the bee's hives ^.^

Not only is this beautiful liquid tasty, but seeing as it's raw, it has many more health benefits then the pasteurized honey you can pick up in the grocery store since it's natural vitamins, minerals, enzymes and other powerful benefits haven't been cooked out from the heating and pasteurization process.

Did you know:

*Raw honey has natural anti-viral, anti-bacterial, and anti-fungal properties? It seriously is like one of the do-all's of the natural food world!

*Take a little spoonful of raw honey harvested from your general region daily and that helps get rid of your seasonal allergies. Make sure to do this a couple months prior to allergy season so your body will already be immune when the pollen starts hittin' the air.

*Taking a spoonful of raw honey will eradicate heart burn within 5 minutes of consumption-This one was tested and proven to work by me! Several times in fact.

*For those of you with bad skin, you can use raw honey as an additive in homemade beauty treatments to bring down the inflammation of acne or blemishes.

Keep in mind, those are just a few of its many uses!

Like I said, raw honey seems like it can do anything and everything ^.^

Fall Back Into Blogging-The Meaning of Fall

Since the first day of Fall has come and gone (September 22nd), it's time to really think Fall things; cozy sweaters, warm apple cider, colorful leaves, and the SITS Girl's Fall Back into Blogging Event

For the next 5 days, come back to see what the Fall theme of the day is--If you're a blogger, you can even play along and win some nifty prizes.

Today's theme: What Fall means to me

***********************************************************

I'm supposed to share with you either a picture of what Fall looks like here in my neck of the woods (Northern Illinois) or a picture that signifies Fall for me, personally.

I know EXACTLY what I'm going to share!

Mmmmmmm :)

These beautiful, delicious looking donuts are apple cider donuts from Edwards Apple Orchard, our seasonal go-to apple orchard.

As soon as hints of Fall are in the air, everyone in the family starts craving these bad boys ^.^

Revitin *Review & Coupon Code*

Lets face it, taking care of yourself in this day and age is hard to do! Not only does it require self discipline, a will to make the change and adequate knowledge to do so, but you have to look into and be wary of every little thing!

Aside from eating, the next biggest thing you have to be careful about are the things you use to take care of yourself; shampoos and conditioners,  makeup, facial washes, toothpastes, etc.

The toothpastes you normally reach for are riddled with things like fluoride, detergents, synthetic fragrances and colors, and of course the ingredients you can't pronounce. Like my mother says, 'If you can't pronounce it, don't put it in your body!'

Thankfully, there are alternatives out there, one of which is Revitin!

About Revitin and their product:

"NuPath® Bioactives is a proprietary and patented, all-natural formulation of vitamins, trace minerals, and nutritional cofactors. It fosters a balanced oral biofilm that supports healthy teeth and gums. Contrary to the conventional approaches to unhealthy oral environments which use detergents and antimicrobials to clean and disinfect, NuPath® Bioactives respects and works with the natural ecology of the mouth, and the needs of the cells."

For this review, I was sent a bottle of their Revitin Oral Therapy Rejuvenating Gum & Teeth Care to try out.

Initially, it was my dad who found this product and wanted to try it. I'm all for anything healthier, especially when it comes to toothpaste because I hate putting all that fluoride in my body, so I was pretty excited when I got the chance to do this review!

Let me tell you, I was pretty shocked when I first tried it! Unlike the harshness and burn of regular toothpastes, Revitin was absolutely and completely....pleasant.

Which is exactly the word my dad used when I asked him about brushing with it; "This toothpaste was very pleasant to use and I quite enjoy brushing my teeth with it."

Also, unlike other toothpastes, there was no foaming at the mouth with this product. Quite honestly, initially while brushing, I wondered if this stuff really does what it says it's supposed to do. There was that fleeting moment of skepticism until I actually FELT the clean and freshness during and long after I finished brushing.

Like anything revolving around the natural and holistic world, I truly appreciate what this product aims to do for its users; help keeps their mouths and gums healthy while keeping the nasty 'junk' out of their bodies. Bravo Revitin!

For my lucky readers, I've been given a special code: Use Revitin650 and get $2.00 off your order!

Disclaimer: I was provided a bottle of Revitin at no cost to me to facilitate this honest review. All opinions expressed in the above post are 100% mine and mine alone unless otherwise stated. Before purchasing, it is strongly advised to do your own research and make sure this product is right for you.

Fall Back Into Blogging-Best School Memory

Since the first day of Fall has come and gone (September 22nd), it's time to really think Fall things; cozy sweaters, warm apple cider, colorful leaves, and the SITS Girl's Fall Back into Blogging Event

For the next 5 days, come back to see what the Fall theme of the day is--If you're a blogger, you can even play along and win some nifty prizes.

Today's theme: Best School Memory

***********************************************************

I unfortunately don't remember a lot of my early school years and we'll just say high school wasn't the best four years of my life, but the memory I'm going to share comes after both of those when I was first starting out in college.

I have some fond memories of the short period (or periodS I should say) I was in college, however one of them stands out more so than the rest; probably because I STILL can't believe it happened!

It was when I was taking an Introduction to Biology class and I was sitting next to one of the friends I had made in the class. In the previous class two days before, we had taken one of the bigger unit tests and I wasn't sure whether I did good or bad.

I was pretty sure I didn't completely bomb the thing, but I wasn't holding my breath on acing it either. As the tests were being handed back, the teacher told us all there was one perfect score floating around and a pretty good success rate. Of course he followed that up with the fact that there was one F floating around as well (bum-bum-buuuuum)....

My test was handed back to me and all I could think before I saw the score was 'please don't let me have the F.' Apparently, I had nothing to worry about:

I remember seeing that number at the top of my page and feeling my jaw completely drop wide open! My friend sitting next to me said I turned beet red, so she apparently jumped to the conclusion that I was the one who had failed.

That's friendship for ya I suppose ;)

(juuust kidding)

I honestly don't think I've ever gotten a perfect score on a big test like this one. I guess it's one of those things that happens to every person at least once (or so my sister told me; it's happened to her once or twice before, too).

If you're interested in reading the original post detailing my two classes, you can go HERE.

Seasonal Transitions & My Hair

The changing of the seasons always signifies change in some way or another. Winter to Spring, the snow melts and everything starts to come alive. Spring to Summer, the weather gets warmer and the days grow longer. Summer to Fall, the weather cools down (thank goodness in regards to this year) and the leaves start to change colors. And of course, Fall to Winter, the leaves all fall and the snow comes back to blanket the earth once more.

I started to think about this the other day and I realized, how come the seasons get to change but I don't? I haven't had much change at all in the past year due to my health and frankly, I'm growing bored with my life!

I know it's not jet-setting on a vacation somewhere or making a major life decision, but I decided I needed something for myself. I got a haircut.

This was my inspiration straight from Google images:

LOVE. IT!

Now, when I refer to a haircut, I don't mean a trim and style; I got a hairCUT!

I enjoy the concept of long hair; the femininity correlated with it and the look of it overall. I love it on other people but I hate it on myself. Long hair starts to get annoying after awhile, at least for me. It gets in my face, it gets harder to manage and, being the non-girly girl I am, I never DO anything with it.

When I went into my stylist, she initially was shocked at how long my hair was since the last time she cut it! When I told her what I had in mind and the fact I wanted it all cut off, she squealed and said, "This is going to be fun!"

Just to be clear on how much hair I actually had, here's a comparison to the pile on the floor once I was done to a regular sized magazine....

That's a lot of hair!

All in all, I big-puffy-heart LOVE my haircut-I'm planning on giving it a single blond streak in the front just to add dimension and be different.

So, what do you plan on doing for YOURSELF in this time of change?

Mental Health Day(s)

{Image Credit}

We interrupt your normally scheduled weekly and other blog posts for this announcement:

I NEED A BREAK!

Lately I have a lot going on with my body, a lot going on with my jewelry making business(es), a lot going on with not one blog, but two-just a lot going on-and it's all catching up to me. Let's just say extreme amounts of fatigue, brain fog, and a busy schedule do not mix well at all.

I feel like I'm drowning in everything I need to accomplish and my habit of making lists to sort things out isn't helping anymore! The lists have failed my OCD-tendency self *sobs*

It's getting to the point where I'm starting to stress myself out WAY too much, and that leads to anxiety attacks and it just gets ugly from there.

Plus the fact that I'm completely lacking in any sort of inspiration for my blog posts these days doesn't help the situation either...

So, I'm giving myself a mental health day days!

Of course I'm not leaving you high and dry; have you entered the giveaways running on my blog? If not, now's your chance!

Speaking of giveaways, I'm sorry I don't have my normal Win It Wednesday post up this week, but you can still link up any contests and giveaways you've got through my Ongoing Contest Linky!

For those of you who are interested in my jewelry business(es) and design, you can check out my other blog, TEE Jewelry--I've done some blogging lately so there are some things to read and look at!

Fret not my dear friends, I will not be gone forever! I have some posts I need to work on (reviews, giveaways, etc etc) and mail to catch up with, but I'll be back soon. Plus, I'm always not far, so I'll be here behind the scenes :)

Thank you for your understanding!

Purity.Organic Juice *Review & Giveaway*

I have to drink a lot of water on a daily basis and while I do love the refreshing taste and quality of the water that we get at our local environmental center, sometimes you just want a little something MORE.

Every once in awhile, I'll crave something a little more sweet and savory when it comes to something to drink and I'm always looking for new products that will help satiate that craving!

Thank goodness I found Purity.Organic and their natural juices to give a try ;)

About Purity.Organic:

"At Purity.Organic®, we are a fresh fruit produce, juice, and functional drink company with a simple mission: To create higher returns for the organic farmers with which we partner because we know that well supported organic farmers = superior fruit = the best tasting juice and functional drinks = happy people!"

All of Purity.Organic juices are made with real, organic fruit grown without harmful chemicals or pesticides. As if that wasn't incentive enough, all of their fruit and beverages are also USDA certified organic!

There are several flavors in which you can choose from; LEMONade, Orange Mango Paradise, Strawberry Paradise, Orange Juice, Cranberry Cocktail, Apple Juice, Iced Tea & Lemonade, and Pomegranate & Blueberry Plus. Add to that their two newest flavors and products, 100% COCONUT water and GRAPEade, that's quite an impressive line of products!

For this review, I was sent a variety pack of different flavored juices from Purity.Organic, which consisted of LEMONade, Orange Mango Paradise, Iced Tea & Lemonade, Pomegranate & Blueberry Plus, and Strawberry Paradise.

Plus I even got one of their 100% COCONUT Waters, which I haven't tried yet, but can't wait to use in one of my morning smoothies!

All in all, I did quite enjoy the wide range of juices and flavors Purity.Organic provided. Each and every flavor HAD a distinct flavor, unlike some of the juices you find today that all taste the same. Not only that, but the flavor had a nice punch to it when you first take a sip!

My favorite was hands down the LEMONade, which was probably one of the best lemonades I've found thus far (I'm somewhat of a lemonade snob LOL).

The only two complaints I have (if you can really call them that) would be I found the drinks to be a little TOO sweet. I tend to have a very sensitive palate, though, and usually have to water down the juices I drink anyway, so this didn't come as a surprise.

The second was the amount of sugar found in a serving of juice; it's understandable when you realize they're using REAL fruit in their products, so it's not from any unhealthy additives, but it's still about the same as a regular serving of juice you buy in the store.

When given to my mom to try (I believe the first we tried was the Orange Mango Paradise), she took a sip, clutched the bottle to her chest and said, "Now THIS is the juice I grew up with! I'm a BIG fan."

My family and I are good friends with a lot of local farmers around our general area and we do what we can to support them from buying their products to actually lending a hand on the farm from time to time, so I understand how important it is to support these wonderful, hard working people.

To hear that this company's mission is to support the farmers they work with just makes me respect them so much more!

Girl's Night Out's New Secret Weapon!

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Hpnotiq for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

 Preview

I may not be able to get out as of late (okay, several months of late), however that doesn't mean I still don't LOVE getting together with my girlfriends and painting the town red, pink, purple and any other color we desire!

Girls nights outs are far and few in between for me, but now that I'm feeling better, I'm hoping I can let my hair down, music up!

Of course the 'Night Out' is the main attraction, but we can't forget a very important part of the whole evening; the Primp & Prep!

Preview

Thanks to Hypnotiq, a new website dedicated to the before-hand primp and prep process, you and your girlfriends will be well taken care of! Enjoy everything from music to get you in the party-hardy spirit to makeup and fashion tips that will get you club ready to even awesome cocktail recipes so you can pre-game it, all the while having a ton of fun before the main attraction!

My personal favorite from the Hypnotiq website has to be their cocktail recipes-I never know what to make when it comes to alcoholic beverages (I'm not an awesome bartender--sue me). My personal standby is usually margaritas, so it'll be nice to really mix things up!  Pun intended ;)

Every girl and her friends loves and needs those girl's nights out and with Hypnotiq's new Primp & Prep website, we have a new secret weapon to enhance and double the fun!

Don't take my word for it though-check it out for yourself and invite you friends to do the same.
