Tickled Pink and Honored Contest Entry

I've only been to one blogging conference, and that was because I ironically won the all expense paid trip (BlogHer 2010 in NYC). If it were up to me, I'd NEVER be able to afford a trip like that due to a few factors:

1. I'm chronically ill and don't have a steady job.
2. I'm severely lacking in the savings department. Which pretty much reverts back to reason #1.

That trip was my first true trip by myself and it was one of those experiences I will never forget as long as I live!

So here I'm at it again, trying to go out on a limb and acquire something not normally within a broke, chronically ill college student's reach; one of those once-in-a-lifetime experiences.

I've been with the One2One Network ever since I started blogging back in 2009 (possibly a few months later give or take) and since then, I've been so impressed with what this community can put together! From supporting musicians like Mat Kearney to promoting quality merchandise to blogging about food-related happenings and events, to even raising awareness for important matters we're all passionate about like USFRA, there have been a multitude of different opportunities for any type of blogger and person.

Not only that, but having to be creative with how I attempt to make money since I can't hold a 'real life' job, the Member Marketplace is an invaluable tool for those of us who have our own business(es) and want a little extra exposure.

O2O really takes care of it's own and you can feel that from the moment you click on to their website and start reading about the program; it's a network I'm proud to be a member of and would love to be able to represent at Blissdom 2013! I want the chance to communicate to people that this network really stands apart from the rest-the unique opportunities, the comradery , the awesome prizes that are given away, and not to mention the fact that the community is so tight-knit...

Let's just say if I were to be chosen for this opportunity, I would be nothing short of honored (and I'll admit, absolutely tickled pink, purple, green and any other you can imagine) to represent the One2One Network and this is why I think I'm the best candidate for the job-I know the value and uniqueness of this network and what it brings to its loyal members!

Disclaimer: I'm taking part in a contest for an all expense paid trip to Blissdom 2013 courtesy of the One2One Network. The above post is 100% my honest and original opinion and contest entry.

Health Update Thursday(8/30)

We're doing something right! I think...

I know it's been awhile since the last update, however I have good reasons. I've been taking my 15+ things I need to take daily (mostly from my medical intuitive, some from my doctor) religiously and after a good week of taking everything, I started to herx.

In the Lymie world, it's known as a herxheimer reaction (you gotta get worse before you get better kind of deal), however whatever you wish to refer to it as, the most basic explaination I can give is I was killing off things too fast and I was overly toxic.

I had a couple of REALLY bad days because of it-shut in a dark room (thank goodness for those black out blinds I won awhile back) with a nasty 3-day migraine, pain in every crevice of my body, flu-like symptoms, etc.

After the third day, we decided to back off everything I was taking and work on detoxing. By the next day, I popped up like you wouldn't believe! I was seriously go-go-going; doing laundry I hadn't done in 3 months (note to self, don't EVER leave laundry for 3 months again), washing bedding, cooking and cleaning...

I had 2 good days, started back on everything again and now I'm back down. The good news is I had 2 good days, so I know they're not impossible to attain!

As of now, I'm still taking everything but if I get to the point of being really bad again, I'll probably stop and take a break. I'm able to do the footbath at least a couple times a day, so that's at least getting some of those nasty toxins out. The birth control I'm on seems to be doing wonders for my period and may I just say, if I ever find the person who created the pill, I will give them a big ol' wet kiss!

Fatigue seems to be an issue as of late, but that's to be expected; just gotta pus on through it.

I've been contemplating on putting myself on a 'diet' of fruits, vegetables, and protein. Just the bare basic so I'm not inadvertently adding to the toxic overload by what I put into my body. It seems to be looking like a very good possibility, so hopefully that will help, too!

All in all, things are going okay. Not absolutely wonderful, but nothing too terrible-I have a renewed hope after those 2 good days. I WANT MORE! :)

Thanks for sticking with me! I know I'm way behind on blogging and my emails due to everything, but I'm doing my best to get caught up.

Kombucha Wonder Drink *Review and Giveaway*

Being the health and wellness lover I am, I've always been curious about Kombucha, pronounced [kom-boo’-cha]. I vaguely knew it was a fermented drink that takes a long process to make, but is supposed to have the most incredible health benefits.

I've always wanted to learn more about it, though, and of course try it out for myself! Thanks to the folks of Kombucha Wonder Drink, I didn't have to wait the long wait a batch would have taken to ferment-I was given an opportunity to try their products right away!

About Kombucha Wonder Drink:

"This bottle is an invitation to take part in an ancient tradition.
To sip from a simpler, more enlightened time that began
in the Himalayas one hundred generations ago.
Kombucha Wonder Drink is a curiously tart, sparkling
fermented tea. Its naturally occurring acids can help detoxify
and energize your body--without alcohol.
"

When the word 'fermented' comes into play, you automatically assume alcohol; In raw kombucha, the possibility of an elevated alcohol content is heightened, however the people of KWD wanted that not to be a problem so they pasteurize their products for safety. It may strip them of the beneficial bacteria, but it's safer and the consumer still receives the organic acids that help the body tremendously.

You can choose from 8 tasty flavors: Asian Pear and Ginger, Traditional, Essences of Lemon, Niagara Grape, Cherry Cassis, Essense of Peach, Essence of Juniper Berry, Spearmint and Lemon Myrtle, and Essense of Mango, all of which can come in two different sizes; a 14oz bottle or a 8.4oz can(the can has more limited flavor options than the bottle).

For this particular review, I was sent a goodie box of 4 of their 8 flavors; Green Tea and Lemon, Asian Pear and Ginger, Cherry Cassis, and Niagara Grape.

(Note I received 5 physical products, but two of them were the same flavor-one can, one bottle).

Not only that, but they came in 3 gorgeous, glass (and recycleable) bottles and two very cute (and recycleable) smaller sized cans.

I'll start out by saying that this product probably isn't for everyone's taste palate. While I thoroughly enjoyed all of the 4 flavors I received, if you're not into a slight ACV (apple cider vinegar)/acidic aftertaste, especially in the Asian Pear and Ginger, you might not like KWD.

I have unique taste buds and always have, so like I said, I enjoyed all the flavors! My least favorite would probably be the Asian Pear and Ginger because it tasted a little bland to me, however I have a tie for my favorite: Cherry Cassis and Niagara Grape (I'm leaning towards the grape).

The product was packaged snug and safely, so I need not worry about anything being broken. The package also came with a bunch of informative paperwork, explaining the flavors, what Kombucha is, what the company offers, etc. Very impressive!

Kombucha is supposed to be great for detoxification because it's basically green, oolong, and herbal tea--just fermented. I had to be really careful with drinking this sparingly because I tend to detox fast. I noticed this especially with the Niagara Grape!

That's a very good thing for me, though-just meant I had to take a little extra time with this review :)

Big News for The Eclectic Element...

Notice the highlighted part in the picture below:

{click to enlarge}

If you didn't catch that, here it is again, closer up:

That's right ladies and gentleman; its been 3 1/2 years in the making (come to think of it, I just now realized I forgot my 3 year blogaversary...Oops!), but I am officially a .comer!

Thanks to my wonderful, AMAZING friend Vanita of After Bedtime Blog for helping me make the switch, I am now among the elite ^.^

Okay, enough being silly-It IS pretty cool though, huh?

This is just one of many big steps for The Eclectic Element-first a .com domain, then a wordpress switch, a new, improved newsletter, more great content including reviews and giveaways-not all in that order mind you.

I really want to nurture this blog and make something fabulous of it, not only which will benefit me, but will benefit all my friends, fans, and readers!

Do YOU all have any suggestions for me on how I can make The Eclectic Element better? If so, I'm all ears!

Groupon's Epic WIN

Show of hands, how many of you remember the show from the 90's, Legends of the Hidden Temple? You know, the game show for kids with teams of two like the Purple Parrots, the Silver Snakes, and the Red Jaguars?

You had 4 rounds to compete through; the moat, the steps of knowledge, the temple games and finally, the two teams left standing had to compete in the temple run.

I miss good quality shows like that! I'm definitely a sucker for the old school, so imagine my excitement when Groupon completely made my day yesterday!

"Dating can be like assembling the silver monkey in Legends of the Hidden Temple, a challenge requiring wit, luck, and passing knowledge of primate anatomy."

All I can say is thank you Groupon for making my day THAT much better ^.^ Not only did you reference Legends of the Hidden Temple, but you correlated it with speed dating.

Kudos. To. You.

Health Update Thursday(8/15)

What can I bring to you this Thursday?

I really have no idea what to say in regards to my health anymore; the last HUT, I was seeing some improvement and was thrilled to be able to get my BSBP pieces done in time for the reveal. A little after that, I headed downhill pretty fast and that lasted for a couple of days.

Fast forward to the last two days or so-saw positive, little steps forward until last night when I sneezed and my whole body just Flipped. S*&#!

Of course it could be a few things, but can we pinpoint it exactly; no.

I know my body is just infested with toxic buildup and right now there's not much I can do to detox except eat detoxifying foods and possibly find some detox things to drink. My problem with detoxing is if I do it TOO fast, it's just as detrimental as not doing it at all!

Along with the severe ovary and abdominal pain I've started to get some nasty lower back pain (no doubt due to being in bed all day), as well as pretty bad joint and nerve pain which comes and goes in its severity.

Sleeping is very hard because the position I'm most comfortable in (my tummy) is too painful, so I have to sleep propped up with pillows and that doesn't equal a good night's sleep for me unfortunately.

Goodness gracious! Frustration imminent!

If anyone has any thoughts or ideas, I'm ALL ears.

Bloggers Unite: A Cry for Help!

The Pruitt Family

Social media and the interwebs are a powerful thing when used correctly and when contacted to post about a fellow blogger's cry for help, I couldn't say no!

Dawn Pruitt, of Check it Out! with Dawn, has had an unfortunate turn of events lately. After authorities stressed the dangers of fireworks, on July 4, a neighboring subdivision set fireworks off that resulted in the burning down of Dawn's home, which was built as a Habitat for Humanity home.

They not only lost their home and most of their possessions, but they also sadly lost their 3 family pets (two cats and a little puppy).

Here are pictures of the damage that was done:

As you can see, the house was a total loss. There was even a local news article about the fire: Fireworks deemed cause of July 4th fire.  As quoted from Dawn herself, "We got out with nothing but our PJ's!  No shoes, nothing and our home is considered a total loss."

I feel very bad because I was sent this blog post opportunity before the fundraiser that was running for Dawn and her family closed and due to health reasons, I wasn't able to post this until now. Of course, the fundraiser ended on August 11th, but is that stopping me? No way!

If you would like to make a donation to Dawn and her family, please feel free to do so at the bottom of my website-Just click on the Paypal button, tell me it's for the Pruitt family, and contribute what you can! All money donated will go directly to the family regardless of Paypal fees.

If you would like to contribute physical things such as clothing, toiletries, or other things, let me know and I'll get you in contact with the person coordinating the fundraising efforts!

If you can't afford to donate or contribute physical goods, help by re-posting, sharing, blogging, tweeting, Facebooking; anything having to do with social media to get the word out!

RT: Call for Help: Dawn of @Checkitoutdawn & her family have suffered a house fire & lost everything. Will you help? http://bit.ly/Pb0nDk

Like I said above, social media is a powerful thing, and if you use it correctly, it can change lives. So won't you help?
