Why you Should Opt for Himalayan Sea Salt

Himalayan Sea Salt has been around for millions of years (200 million to be exact), but only just recently (compared to 200 million years that is) has it started to be marketed and sold throughout the world.

Coming from deep within the Himalayan regions of the middle east, this particular salt is said to be the purest salt found on earth due to it being protected from natural and artificial pollution by volcanic lava for all these millions of years.

Unlike regular sea salt or table salt, Himalayan sea salt helps to hydrate our bodies, requires little to no digestion when consumed, and helps to boost a person's energy! The reason our bodies can easily digest this type of salt is due to it colloidal structure.

Aside from those few things above, Himalayan sea salt has some other remarkable physical attributes! Some of which include controlling and regulating the water levels inside the body, promoting a stable pH balance, aiding in reducing signs of aging, increasing bone strength and reducing muscle cramps. This list goes on!

Besides your health and well being, Himalayan sea salt is also used in health and beauty, cooking, and even metaphysical practices.

Unfortunately, many people now and days use regular ol' iodized white table salt, which has been bleached and chemically altered, stripped of its 84 different nutrients. It's natural iodine has even been replaced with synthetic iodine, so it truly is the Frankenstein of the salt world.

Imagine what ingesting that does to your body! Picture this: For every gram of regular ol' iodized table salt that your body consumes and can't process, your body thus has to pull 23 times that in water from it's own cells to help process that tiny speck of Frankensalt, resulting in fluid build up in your body which can lead to not only water retention (so that's why eating a lot of salt near a woman's period causes water weight), but can also lead to high blood pressure, arthritis, kidney and gall bladder stones, and other things.

But we'll leave that whole debate for another time.

All in all, substituting Himalayan sea salt in your diet and beauty regimes while trying your best to avoid processed salts can have a hugely positive impact on your health!

I'm shocked at the amount of products that I see bleached here in America. It's not normal at all.

Whoa, that's a whole lotta info to grasp at once. I had no idea there was such a product first of all & I had no idea they did so much to salt. I myself am allergic to sea salt. I'm also allergic to iodine. So I need to be careful with ocean fish too. Oh fun! All this stuff you do not know all because man tries to make our food better???? hmmmm I wonder! Okay it's THUNDER AND LIGHTENING... gee that sounds like a song!

I do a lot of running and biking and this sort of salt might help with some of the leg cramps I get after a long ride. I think I'll check it out and see if it helps.

I didn;t know the reason it is considered by some to be healthier than table salt is that bodies can easily digest it due to it colloidal structure.

I've been interested in Himalayan Sea Salt largely for my badly compromised respiratory system (and because I think their lamps etc are very beautiful!)

So, yes, I am delighted to learn about the other health benefits! But I think what struck me most about your commentary/post is how really BAD regular iodized table salt is... (even worse than I ever imagined!) Thanks Kayla!

I never thought that salts can make such a difference. Nice post. Its purest form of salt so probably it can be good to health.

I had no idea how chemically altered table salt is - but I can't use iodized salt because my husband is allergic to iodine
