Before you freak out and think you're not in the right place, STOP. You are indeed in the correct place; the blog The Eclectic Element, owned and run by Kayla from Illinois. Lymie, jewelry designer, entrepreneur, blogger, social media guru...

Have I calmed you down a bit? Good. Now, can I ask you all a favor?

I've heard horror stories of bloggers doing a little tinkering with their websites and completely losing everything and that has always been a fear of mine. Of course, that fear became a reality just a few hours ago.

Which, I still don't understand how it happened; I made sure to back up my template beforehand. However when I went to restore it, I got an error message from Blogger and it wouldn't upload. The only thing I can assume is I altered too much over the past 3 years I've been blogging and it completely didn't recognize things.

Regardless of how it happened, thankfully I didn't lose EVERYTHING and I'm realizing that it isn't as bad as I initially thought. I just lost most of my template.

Now that I think about it, this is a good thing. Yes, I said GOOD.

I've been meaning to redesign my website for a long time now and I was not-so-gently pushed to do it.

I'll admit something though; I cried. A little. Okay, I just generally cried when I realized it was gone. Now that I can actually breath, and my heart isn't pounding out of my chest, I'm accepting things.

*deep breath*

So, any advice for the reno? Do you-my friends, fans, and readers-want to see something special on The Element? Colors? Textures? Graphics?

What do you guys think so far?

I totally agree with the above comments, Kayla! I'm sorry you've had some struggles with Blogger....but look at ya now! I think your site looks fantastic and is easy to view and navigate...not to mention it looks great!

Okay, well my taste is different then most, but being as you do the jewelery thing why don't you add some bling bling to remind people that's your thing. Out of sight. Out of mind kinda thing. So, if you don't have anything to remind people they'll forget. You're the one who has to advertise it. Nobody is going to do it for you unless you set it up. Haven't I taught you anything girl. Am I not always advertising my give-aways for example, my 4M stuff???? I know you don't sell it here, but it doesn't mean it should be hidden. Then you should have something that says KAYLA your favorite colors, your favorite thing. Let say you like rainbows. Put them everywhere or you like plants put them everywhere all different kinds. Anyway sorry for all the trouble. It a shame you can't get it back. Does your computer have that restart at a different date thing? Maybe you'll get it back that way. Good luck baby! If you need something let me know.

Been there, done that. Losing stuff made me almost give up my entire blog once.

But I snapped back to reality and found a way to fix it.

I think it's a great thing though because the redesign looks awesome!

I think it looks good. Ultimately, how it looks is up to you. I've had my blog redone twice, both by professionals. I guarantee I'd mess it up if I did it myself.
