Slapdash Sunday(2/27)

Slapdash Sunday is a day for your proverbial week 'leftovers.' Is there something you wanted to say, but just forgot? Is there something you want to write about, but isn't worth a whole page? Do you have a random thought, funny or otherwise that needs to be written down?
That is what Slapdash Sunday is for!

***********************************************************************

GUESS WHAT?!!

One of my best friends is getting married-She told me on Friday by sending me a picture message of the ring :D

And guess what else?!!

She asked me to be her Made of Honor!

I can't lie-I'm STILL in shock, but SO excited. That dress is the one she chose for me and her other bridesmaids.

I love the color!

I know this is totally out of left field, but I think the word 'Mayhaps' should be added to the dictionary as a legitimate word!

Seriously people, that's a GREAT word-Say it out loud and tell me I'm wrong O.o

It's way classier then the slang it's termed to be!

The 83rd Annual Oscar Awards are tonight-I can't believe it's been a year already since our annual Oscar party O.o

But I digress...

I'm not usually excited for these things-A bunch of films I've not really heard before winning everything, HOWEVER, my girl is going to be singing tonight!

Keep an eye out for Florence + the Machine-She won't disappoint :D

Womanspace

Unfortunately, this is going to be a quick post until I can have the time to actually sit down and write a big whole blog post explanation.

I was recently given an opportunity to be explained upon later to volunteer my time at a local place in Rockford called Womanspace.

Here is a little description of the organization from their website:

"Womanspace seeks to inspire individuals to discover new interests, talents and friendships, and is dedicated to helping people live their best lives through programs that enhance mind, body and spirit.

Situated on a seven-acre campus with art studios and galleries, Gallery2Go gift shop, beautiful gardens and a labyrinth, Womanspace has touched the lives of more than 20,000 men, women and children since its founding in Rockford, Illinois in 1975. "

I'm really excited about this and hope it works out for everyone involved {especially me!}. I get to go today from 3-5, so wish me luck!!

Health Update Thursday(2/17)

Everyone knows I've been having issues with staying healthy this particularly rough Winter season, and I hate to disappoint, but this is not a happy, I'm-healthy-let's-go-out-and-celebrate health update.

I don't quite remember where I last left you on my health status, but that flu I had a couple weeks ago that I gave to my family {really sorry about that fam!} that I was finally recovering from was kindly re-gifted BACK to me and with a kick in it's germ-infested pants::

My flu turned into walking pneumonia.

Hence why I haven't been around a lot the past couple of days and probably why I won't be around through the weekend. I even had to miss both of my classes on Monday and Wednesday this week, and believe me, I don't miss class unless I absolutely 110% have no other choice o.O

Anyway, I hope everyone is well and don't worry-I'll be around in the background :)

After taking a short break, I'm back, and with some great new music to share!

This month is all about love songs being the month of Valentine's Day and whatnot, so I think I'm going to go with one of my favorite romantic singers of all times...

Norah Jones--Love Me Tender

Have a musical week everyone!

Spread the Love

On Valentine’s Day, we think of people
who have cheered and encouraged us,
who go out of their way
to be kind and caring,
who have enriched our lives
just by being themselves.
You're all such people.
I’m so happy you all are my friends and loyal readers!

--Joanna Fuchs

Happy Valentine’s Day!

I just wanted to take this opportunity to wish all my friends and readers a Happy Valentine's Day filled with lots of love, family, friends and chocolate ;) Also, I wanted to let you know I appreciate each and everyone one of you and everything you've given me the past 2 years I've been blogging.

Any special plans for today?

I got a lovely letter from one of my fellow Lymie friends, who ironically is located in Illinois as well!

Boy, do I love getting old school snail mail cards and letters-In the day of e-mails and text messages, it's nice to just reconnect with people the old fashioned way...

Pen, paper, and a stamp to get things movin' :)

The first giveaway of 2011 was won over at my lovely cyber mom's blog, XmasDolly-It was originally supposed to be for electronic screen wipes, but somehow {not exactly sure what happened}, I got glass cleaner instead.

Unfortunately, I don't wear glasses-Any ideas on what to do with it!?

"Free" is the word of the day people-Free sample that is!

You know how much I love me a good free sample-I was able to sign up and receive a package of DenTek floss things {yes, that is the technical term LOL} and they just arrived in the mail!

If you're interested in getting a sample of these, head over HERE.

Guess what?

Aunt Susie surprised my sister and I yet again-The occasion:: Valentine's Day!

We both got lovely Valentine's Day themed fuzzy socks {which are on my feet keeping them cozy as I type} complete with an adorable Valentine's Day valentine, a bar of dark chocolate {as you can see, I already opened it}, and a gift card to McDonald's.

What a cute little way of telling someone you're thinking of them :)

Another free sample!

This time it was a Walmart freebie for Crest 3D White Whitestrips Advanced Seal.

Cool!

I got my latest copy of Yoga Journal!

Need I say more?

:)

An Island Life

I've been SO behind on my blogging, emails, and blog rounds, that when I came across my friend Kailani of An Island Life's post the other day nearly 2 weeks late, I felt terrible that I didn't see it sooner!

She was so sweet enough to choose me as one of her Top 5 Famous Blogging Friends-I really love the way she defined being famous in her eyes-I couldn't agree with it more!

Thank you Kailani for making my day :)

If you want an amazing work-those-abs-out worthy laugh for the day, head on over to Cat of 3 Kids and Us and check out This Video of her little girl in Target.

I nearly fell over laughing-My abs STILL hurt :D

Dear Universe,

Do you really want me to have a motorized wheelchair THAT bad that you just keep reminding me of your specials through television, internet, and email ads, through snail mail at least once a month, in stores and other obscene places at least a few times a week?

I got to warn you-I'm not caving.

Sincerely,
I can walk fine most days thank you very much!

Unfortunate Realization

I came to an unfortunate realization Thursday night that has me pretty bummed out and upset.

As you all know, my whole family is sick with various strains of something-The flu, a cold, walking phenomena, bronchitis...It's seriously a medley of random coughing fits, sniffles, and blown noses everywhere I turn O.o

Since I'm the healthiest of all of em' {how ironic is that turn of events?}, I told my mom that I would make dinner that night-Meatloaf. Of course, I don't really know how, so even though she didn't feel like up to it, she ended up doing it herself, and teaching me along the way.

She mixed all the ingredients in a bowl and asked if I could mash it all together {meat, eggs, bread crumbs, etc}. I did as she instructed and had at it, letting my fingers dig into everything and kneed it all together.

Nobody told me when I first put my hands in that it was going to be shockingly cold.

Here is the kicker though:: As I tried mixing this stuff up, the piercing cold affected the nerves in my arms from my hands all the way up to my shoulders and set a pretty painful bought of nerve pain off.

I could only mix for a minute before my pain level shot up high and I had to go take some pain medicine :(

The rest of the night was just pure hell-The pain in my arms spread throughout my body and it was miserable.

As soon as this happened, I had a slap-me-in-the-face "Ah-ha" moment:: If making meatloaf affected me THIS much, what the hell would making my bathing suit snow angels do to me!? This realization really upset me; my angels have been one of my proud traditions for the past 3 years-I LOVE telling people about them because they look at me like I'm nuts {rightly so}, but it's one of the things unique to me.

I do crazy things.

From there, my mind goes in the direction of, will I be able to do anything crazy again? Will I be able to do my snow angels without worrying about wanting to die from the impending pain? Will I be able to do ANYTHING without having to worry about negative affects?

Tell me my dear readers, am I making a bigger deal out of this then I should be?

You Again *Movie Review*

Movie Synopsis:

High school isn't for the faint of heart; You have your generalized clicks: The Jocks, The Geeks, The Cheerleaders, The Goths, and then you have those that don't belong to any group-Marni (Kirsten Bell) was one of those loaners.

Her high school nemesis, Joanna a.k.a JJ (Odette Yustman) on the other hand, was a cheerleader, and a mean one a that.

Marni remembers nothing but being tormented by Joanna, thus, having pretty scarring memories of those years.

Fast forward a few years-Marni is working at a prominent PR firm and is on the fast track to success with her high school years behind her. That is until she flies home for her brother, Will's (James Wolk), wedding to find out he's marrying the one and only Joanna o.O

To add more mayhem to the mix, Marni's mom, Gail (Jamie Lee Curtis), and Joanna's Aunt Romona (Sigourney Weaver) are old high school frienemies as well.

Chaos, one up-manship and coming to terms with the past ensue in this romantic comedy of 2011.

My Thoughts:

As soon as I saw Betty 'My God' White was apart of this movie, you KNOW I had to see it! I mean anything with The White in it is on my to-see list xD

My lovely sister was kind enough to rent it for me earlier this week when she stopped at a Redbox by our house because she knew I wanted to see it.

Needless to say, I was pretty excited!

Although, watching it, I was really not impressed in the least. Yes, it had a good plot and story and it had some A-list actors and actresses in it, but the movie was just very bland for my tastes. It wasn't as funny as I'd hoped it would be, and it was just very predictable in a non-entertaining kind of way.

I found my mind drifting to other things throughout the whole movie.

I think the best part of the whole thing WAS Betty White and her legendary acting talent. Oh, and of course Will's best friend, Charlie (Sean Wing) wasn't hard on the eyes if you know what I mean ;)

Either way, if you're into romantic comedies, or like any of the actors and actresses in the film, give it a watch and see what you think!

I had to include this picture because it's just AMAZING!
:D

**This is an opinion solely based on my thoughts and opinions of the movie in question and no one elses. I was not compensated for or influenced one way or another to write the subject matter in this review, so if you don't like it or don't agree with it, that is your choice and I fully respect it so please extend me the same curtsy**

Bridal Beauty Bonanza Event

Getting married is such a beautiful occurrence in a person's life no matter who they might be. Of course marriage isn't for everyone, but for those who really want it, it's a day you meticulously plan for and envision and await with each passing day-The day where two people choose to pledge their lives and love for one another in front of family and friends, or just each other and their pastor, judge, and or justice of the peace.

Weddings can be done in so many different ways depending on the person getting married::

Big vs small wedding.
Beef vs chicken.
Church vs outside.
Traditional vs modern.

Whatever way you plan it, it's one of the biggest days of a person's life.

My lovely friend Jennifer of Sweep Tight and her fiance are planning on pledging their love to one another this upcoming October! If you follow Jennifer at all, you would know this ;)

If not, well, now you know!

Jennifer has coupled up with Dawn of Just Married With Coupons to bring you SEVEN whole months of bridal related reviews and giveaways-Event name:: Bridal Beauty Bonanza!

If you have a chance, head on over and congratulate her and her hubby-to-be on their upcoming nuptials and of course, while your there, enter a few of her giveaways :)

Apparently, the linky I use for my blog, MckLinky, is starting to charge for its use, so unfortunately, I'm going to have to switching venues.

It's not that I don't want to stay with them-It's an extremely well put together program that has serviced me very well the past year-I just can't afford to pay{which, by the way, is a very reasonable sum}.

I do suggest if you have the money to spare, to stay with them because I have nothing but good things to say about MckLiny!

Snowmageddon 2011

~*!*~Snowmageddon 2011~*!*~

{The front view of our house}

{Look at that snow!}

{Thankfully dad got up early and shoveled the walkway}

{Our neighbors out playing and plowing their driveways!}

{The snow was halfway up the Ford Taurus's door-Looks like we aren't going anywhere o.O}

**********************************************************

My dog loves, loves, loves the snow, so my sister and I donned on our boots and coats, opened the door and let him be free!

Well, at least as far as our front yard goes xD

{Isn't my baby cute!?}

{Look at that snow! It's up to his belly!}

{All the snow he can eat-He's one happy pup}

{This is my favorite picture-I got him mid leap ^.^}

{Not quite sure what to do are ya buddy?}
