Mailbox Monday(1/31)

Mailbox Monday divulges into the inner workings of my mailbox throughout the week. From books to jewelry to free samples to random magazines and letters-You never know what will be in the mail this week...

***********************************************************************

My aunt is at it again!

She sent my sister and I a very sweet little package for the New Year-It included a bag for each of us with::

*A beautiful Things Remembered 2010 picture frame ornament inscribed with 'Never Stop Believing. Merry Christmas. Kayla'
*A bar of dark chocolate {she knows me so well!}
*A gift card to Panera Bread
*And a pair of lovely fuzzy socks.

Thank you for your thoughtful package Aunt Susie!

Awhile back, I won Wendy's You Pick 2 instant win game--Guess what!?

I got my $5 gift card in the mail!

Woohoo xD

The same day I got my Wendy's gift card, I received my freebie for a cup of Yoplait yogurt.

The promotion is still going on so if you're interested in getting a free cup of yogurt or sharing with someone else, head on over HERE and sign up!

Can you see a recurring theme here? LOL

Slapdash Sunday(1/30)

Slapdash Sunday is a day for your proverbial week 'leftovers.' Is there something you wanted to say, but just forgot? Is there something you want to write about, but isn't worth a whole page? Do you have a random thought, funny or otherwise that needs to be written down?
That is what Slapdash Sunday is for!

***********************************************************************

I was on Twitter the other day and ran into a Tweet/TwitPic with my name in it, which of course captured my attention right away.

The company wasn't talking about ME though-Listen to this::

"A product update for you from #SIA11...a sneak peek at the new Fall & Holiday Collection. The new BEARPAW KAYLA. Wear it up or fold it down and show the sheepskin."

Can I just say Kayla wants some Kayla's! LOL

I can't believe I didn't post about this last week....

I hit over 600 followers!

Now to just think of something really special to do :)

Any ideas?

I'm a crazy sweeper-I see a contest, I enter it no matter what it is {within reason LOL}.

So, of course I was thrilled to be chosen to win 6 packages of Halls Refresh cough drops xD

The best part is:: A week after they came, I got the flu, so they're being put to good use!

Thanks to my good friend and jewelry buddy Melissa of Outnumbered 3 to 1, and Artbeads.com, I was able to get this $15.00 1/8" Alphabet Metal Stamp Kit for $2.00!

How cool is that!?

I just hope I can use it soon xD

Thanks again Mel for thinkin' of me!

I FINALLY got not one, but two issues of my favorite magazine, Yoga Journal, in the mail this week after patiently waiting a little over a month {Well, since before Christmas}.

This was another one of those deals I got that I'm really proud of xD

I believe I ended up spending about $0.98 after all was said and done!

On an off note, isn't that pose she's doing FANTASTIC!? I can't wait until I'm able to do it ^.^

Chicago Bears for the WIN

**UPDATE:: The Bears lost :(**

I'm not a big sports fan...Okay, rewind:: The better phrase to describe me is I don't like sports at all.

It's not that they aren't interesting in their own right, but I just have no will to learn, watch, or follow them.

That's just me though.

However, being from Illinois, there are a few sports related things that have been instilled in me no matter how much I dislike sporting miscellaneous. Some of which are::

*Hunting and fishing ARE sports.
*Hunting and fishing are MY sports.
*Socks or Cubs--Cubs
*Die-hard Bears fan
*Die-hard Packers nemesis

As you can tell, this post is regarding the last two-Since we live close to the Wisconsin border, we're surrounded by many Packers fans and it gets pretty rivaled, especially when both teams happen to play together.

If you're a football fan or follower, you know the Bears and the Packers are playing today, right now, for a spot in the Superbowl.

THE SUPERBOWL!

We haven't played in the Superbowl since the 1980's, so this is a BIG game-So big in fact, that many local businesses aside from the bars, are closing for the day to catch the game.

What is the whole point of this post if I don't even like sports?

Well, I still gotta support my team!

GO BEARS!

My Heart Belongs to You: Happy Birthday Baby!

Today marks a very special day::

The love of my life turns 20 years old!!

I can't believe it's been 5 1/2 short months already that we've been together-It just doesn't even seem possible that our 6 month is coming up in less then 2 weeks, but at the same time, it feels like we've been together so much longer then that :)

He makes me smile even when I don't feel like I can. He comforts me and never shies away from my pain and tears. He spoils me rotten even when I tell him not to. When I'm feeling silly, he joins in on the fun. He's such a hopeless romantic, but you don't see me complaining! When I look into his eyes, I can see just how much he loves me. He makes my life much more brighter and wonderful with all these things and SO much more. For that, I am truly thankful for him each and every day.

Happy Birthday Baby!
I love you.

Health Update Thursday(1/20)

You wanna know how I started my day today?

I went to sleep around 1:30 am last night, and pretty much had a great night's sleep despite my wake-up-several-times-during-the-night mentality. I woke up this morning around 9:30 am and you wanna know the first thing I did when my eyes opened?

The moment I opened my eyes to wake up from my pretty great night's sleep, I rolled over, reached for the bucket besides my bed {how sad is it that I always keep a bucket by my bed now?}, and tossed my cookies O.o

FIRST thing right when I woke up.

Lovely, no?

I continued to toss said cookies for about a half an hour and then fell back asleep until noon.

Needless to tell all of you, I think I have a flu-The boyfriend said there was a 24 hour thing going around and since I was in school yesterday around many, many germy people, I had no problem coming to the conclusion that I picked something up.

Thank GOD I don't have class again until Monday!

I'll be around today. I think this is all you're going to get from me today though, so enjoy the rest of your Thursday :)

Kayla is...

Going back to school!!!

Surprise :D

Yes everyone, THIS is indeed my big announcement!

I've been meaning to post about this for awhile now, but because of the 2 week absence, I couldn't and the date just sort of snuck up on me O.o

When do I start?

Well, school starts TOMORROW!

I know, I know-Better late then never right?

Anywho, like the past few times I've gone back to school and blogged about it, I feel pretty much the same: excited, nervous, scared...Too many what if's are circling around in my head like vultures and it's definitely making it hard to concentrate on anything.

But, I'm ready to take it head on and let whatever be, be. Just live in the present!

I've only signed up for 2 classes to start out with, Introduction to Computer and Information Systems and Introduction to Philosophy, so we will see how I do with those two before adding anything else to my list.

If all goes well, I can add another class in March!

Wish me luck :)

It's Not Thursday, But I Have an Update!

I know I have not fully been here the past two weeks. As is always the case, I came down with something yet again from eating something or being around someone or going someplace or just even sitting in my own living room reading a book.

Whatever the reason, one day I was perfectly fine getting together with friends, baking cheesecake, listening to music, the next I was sleeping. And sleeping. And sleeping.

Good lord, I must have slept 3 or 4 days straight, only getting up to eat and go to the bathroom then going back to sleep again.

After the sleeping-beauty bout, I ended up not walking again for a few days. Of course I was still exhausted, so I just stayed in bed and either slept or read {I can actually read now!}.

That subsided one day just as swiftly as it came, but in it's wake, horrible nerve, joint, and muscle pain that left me sobbing and popping Excedrin like they were tic tacs. And with the nerve pain came the depression-I can't say it was as bad as it normally gets in these situations, but it definitely wasn't pleasant by any means...

That pretty much catches you up with where I'm at; still experiencing heightened levels of pain off and on and the depression isn't far behind, but I'm working through it the best I can.

I realized after talking with my boyfriend one day that I am NOT doing the best I can be doing with my health, so I've put myself back on my 'diet.' Eliminating wheat, gluten, dairy, cutting down considerably on sugars, and staying far away from anything artificial.

I'm only on day 2, but I really do feel a little improvement!

As for my ailments, I've been in constant contact with my ME and I guess I've contracted yet another Virus {this was as of yesterday}. This is what we strive to kill and rid of my body of as of today.

So, that pretty much sums up my absence the past two or so weeks-I can't completely say I'm going to be here from now on, but I just want you guys to know what's going on. I thank you for all sticking with me as always and sending your well wishes my way :)

Speaking of up-to-date, I have one more big announcement planned for tomorrow so If you're curious, come back tomorrow to see what's up!

P.s. I have a new signature! You like?!

This week's theme is songs of your youth....

I'm only 21 years old-I can't remember too much from back in the day besides boy-band mania (you repeat the fact that I told you that and I'll hunt you people down! Lol).

Oh, WAIT. A. MINUTE!

Perfection ;)

Featured Blogger Friday(1/7)-Sweep Tight

Featured Blogger Friday is back, brand spankin' new in the New Year and with some fresh new faces for you all!

{That's a lot of news, huh?}

Today, I bring you a fellow Illinoisan blogger who's been such a great friend to yours truly ^.^

Say hello to Jennifer of Sweep Tight {I absolutely LOVE that name!} and enjoy this great interview.

Q. What’s your name and blog? What other information would you like to share?

My name is Jennifer and my blog is Sweep Tight. I am 32 years old living in the Chicago area with my fiance and my dog. I am obsessed with entering sweepstakes, but I am also finding myself quite hooked on hosting my own giveaways on my blog now!

Q. Why did you choose that name for your blog?

My mom actually came up with it. I was thinking sweepstakes...so, sleep tight...sweep tight...good night, sweep tight, and dream of winnings. I don't know. I am not in love with it.

Q. Why did you start b
logging?

Well, because of my sweepstaking hobby actually. Everyone would always ask me how I win so much, so I thought it would be a great way to share links with them. I had no clue what a blog even was. Once I got to know the blog world a little more, I feel in love with it. Now I do more product reviews and giveaways than anything else. So...it has changed.

Q. What kind of stuff do you cover with your blog? Is there a specific genre you write about or is the sky the limit?

Sweepstakes, savings, coupons, deals, freebies, product reviews, giveaways, randomness...you just never know!

Q. What is one must read post that you have written {Include Link}?

I think my engagement post is my favorite. http://www.sweeptight.com/2010/08/i-got-engaged-at-starved-rock/ :)

Q. Name one thing you love about your blogging job.

I really love picking winners to the giveaways! I know how I feel when I win something, so I love to be the one who gets to make someone else feel that way. I also cannot believe how many awesome people I have met through blogging. Kayla being one of them!

Q. Name one thing you’re not quite fond of about your blogging job.

I just wish I had more time for it...or better time management. I seem to develop sudden ADD and it takes me forever to write one post because of it.

Q. What’s one random fact about you?

I am insanely obsessed with mail. Paranoid about it, even. I always think the mail man is out to get my freebies.

Q. Inspiration comes in many forms for different people. What inspires you?

Family, friends, free stuff, cash...just bein' honest.

Q. Where else can we find you(Personal Website, Etsy Shop, Twitter, Facebook, Etc.)?

Since I missed ALL of December, I thought I'd start fresh with M.M.M.M and what better way to start fresh then with this week's theme::

New music for the new year!

How perfect is that!?

Anyway, my boyfriend and I enjoy listening to music together since we are so open minded when it comes to music and he introduced me to a new band...Well, relatively older, but new to me regardless::

Mailbox Monday(1/3)

Mailbox Monday divulges into the inner workings of my mailbox throughout the week. From books to jewelry to free samples to random magazines and letters-You never know what will be in the mail this week...

***********************************************************************

Right at the beginning of the week, I went out to the mailbox to collect the mail and found a lovely 'gift' from the makers of Tylenol PM in there {I put gift in parenthesis because it was a freebie I requested awhile ago, but I still consider it a gift!}.

It was a Sleep Solution Kit which included::

*A sleep guide and journal featuring practical tips for better sleep
*Satin sleep mask to help block out intrusive light
*CD of soothing sounds
*Coupons worth up to $12 on products to support your sleep routine
*Sample of JOHNSON'S Melt Away Stress Lavender & Chamomile Lotion {this wasn't included for some reason though...}

I've already popped into the CD and I'm really happy with my find xD
