Send a Little Comfort & Help Raise Awareness!

October not only announces the arrival of pumpkins, changing leaves, and everything Halloween, but it also welcomes Breast Cancer Awareness month.

Here are some statistics regarding breast cancer in the U.S:

  • About 1 in 8 women in the United States (12%) will develop invasive breast cancer over the course of her lifetime.
  • In 2010, an estimated 207,090 new cases of invasive breast cancer were expected to be diagnosed in women in the U.S., along with 54,010 new cases of non-invasive (in situ) breast cancer.
  • Besides skin cancer, breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among U.S. women. More than 1 in 4 cancers in women (about 28%) are breast cancer.
  • For women in the U.S., breast cancer death rates are higher than those for any other cancer, besides lung cancer.

Being a chronically ill person, I know the importance of raising awareness-one reason why I have to applaud those people and companies doing their part to raise awareness for any disease and illness, including breast cancer.

This is why I have to applaud Hanes and their effort to raise awareness AND money for the cause!

"Since 2009, Hanes has made cash and in-kind donations totaling $1,000,000 to breast cancer charities."

This year, Hanes has created a special app via their Facebook Fanpage that lets people customize and send a free virtual care package to their family, friends, and whoever might be in need of a special little pick-me-up.

Not only can you personalize these care packages, but for every one care package sent, Hanes will donate $1 to The National Breast Cancer Foundation Inc. (up to $25,000) to help woman of all kinds catch breast cancer early, as well as provide mammograms for those in need.

Do YOU know someone in need of a little comfort? Head on over and send a care package-I bet they'll appreciate your thoughtfulness, and to top it all off, you'll be contributing to a good cause :)

To send a little comfort, visit Hanes's Pink Facebook page.
