Bye Bye Old Phone, Hello....

HTC EVO 4G!

You beautiful, beautiful piece of what techy dreams are made of  xD

Hopefully by the time this post is published, I'll be on my way over to Sprint to trade in my old phone for this baby! I'm not too thrilled about the adjustment period since I've never had, nor extensively used a touch phone before, but I'll just have to weather it until the time that I'm a master ^.^

I'm hoping I will have pics of this beast up soon!

I enjoy a good meme now and again, and sometimes I come across one that I just HAVE to do-Well, I came across one of those must-do ones the other day over at my friend Grace's blog, Sandier Pastures.

4. What is your favorite color?
5. Who is your celebrity crush?
6. What is your favourite drink?
7. What is your dream vacation?
8. What is your favourite dessert?
9. What do you want to be when you grow up?
10. What do you love most in life?
11. What is one word that describes you?
12. What did you look like as a child?

My mosaic all put together:

Yes, that is me {with some funky hair I might add}, but what is that I'm holding....?

Why, it's not one, not two, but THREE $25 gift cards!

One to Paneras.
One to Walmart.
One to Target.

No, it's not my birthday. No I didn't graduate. No, I didn't have anything exciting happen in my life.

I just accumulated enough points on MyPoints.com!! If you'd like to give them a try, you can sign up HERE.

Recently, I won an instant win game sponsored by MetRX.com, where I won, of all things, a HUGE tub of their vanilla protein powder.

My first though:  "Yay! I won!"

My second thought: "What the heck am I going to do with protein powder!?"

I found a good use for it, though-I gave it to my sister's weight training boyfriend xD

 I love holidays!

You get so many awesome freebies ^.^

Like the card I made for my dad, courtesy of Cardstore.com?

This AMAZING t-shirt was something I won over at Jolly Mom-Thanks to Just Jen, I received a personalized shirt with swarovski crystal letting advertising my jewelry business!

Happy Father's Day!

To all those fathers, step fathers, grandfathers, or father figures out there, or in your life, I want to wish you all a wonderful and happy Father's Day on this lovely Sunday in June :)

You all are amazing-I can't imagine my life without my father in it. He has done so much for me over the last 21 years of my life; added so much joy, love, and laughter in it, and for that, I'm truly grateful!

He may be a spaz and a clutz and absent-minded, and a dork most days, but he's MY spazy, clutzy, absent-minded dork!! xD

Please wish the father in your life Happy Father's Day for me and go and enjoy the day!

Any special plans?

Slapdash Sunday(6/19)

Slapdash Sunday is a day for your proverbial week 'leftovers.' Is there something you wanted to say, but just forgot? Is there something you want to write about, but isn't worth a whole page? Do you have a random thought, funny or otherwise that needs to be written down?

That is what Slapdash Sunday is for!

***********************************************************************

My feet hurt so bad lately that I can barely walk on them. I need to wear slippers ALL the time because of the pain.

I've mentioned this a few times to my boyfriend when he asks how I'm feeling daily.

You want to know what the sweet guy did?

Before he came over last Sunday, he went out and bought me 2 pairs of comfortable, purple and black socks-He said that he knows my feet hurt a lot and that he thought these socks would help.

Rawr! I love that man ^.^

Apothica.com *Review and Giveaway*

When I was contacted to do a review and giveaway for Apothica.com, I was thrilled! I had seen many reviews and giveaways on other blogger's sites around the WWW, and even entered a few, but I had no idea that little ol' me could work with this company, too.

Then I won a giveaway and things just fell right into place :)

The minute I got my gift card, I went on their site to see what I could find for myself, not knowing what to expect-I hadn't really been there before except when entering a giveaway. To my utter surprise, and if we're being totally honest here, pure shock, this site is totally INCREDIBLE with it's easy to navigate structure and sheer amount of well known, quality, name brand products!

My only qualm, if you really can call it that, was I was in total overwhelm with all the goodies they had! Being someone who's not on the up-and-up with makeup and beauty product usage and terminology, I had to call in an expert {my sister} to explain things to me. LOL

To make matters a bit more complicated, I could use my winnings on all THREE of their sites: Apothica.com, SkincareRx.com, and Skinbotanica.com, all of which are as totally incredible as Apothica O.o But, that was my problem to bear ;)

Sticking strictly with the Apothica website, among their many well known brands, you can find Smashbox, GlowMinerals, Oscar Blandi, Napoleon Perdis, Becca Cosmetics, and so much more. After much deliberation and jumping from one awesome brand's page to another, I chose a mascara from Becca Cosmetics.

A little about Becca Cosmetics from their site:

"BECCA started from the simple desire to find the "perfect foundation." Frustrated by her own inability to find the miracle product, Australian Makeup Artist, Rebecca Morrice Williams created the ultimate range of skin-perfecting products which make it possible for all women to experience the pleasure of a flawless and radiant complexion, regardless of their age, skin tone or skin type."

Like I said earlier, I'm not really great with makeup-I know eyeshadow is for eyes, lipstick is for lips, blush is for cheeks, and a few other things of the sort, but other then that, the word clueless comes to mind. One other thing I know: A good mascara for a woman is a must!

The Ultimate Black Mascara from Becca Cosmetics is for woman who want stronger, thicker, and longer lashes without smudging, flaking, or clumping from their mascara.

Available in both black and bronze tone, this product is designed to be water resistant and long lasting. This innovative mascara's claim to fame is it's ability to form 'tubes' around your lashes that are meant to lengthen, thicken, and curl.

Here are my thoughts on this innovative mascara:

Pros:

-It didn't really feel like I had any mascara on at all, so I'm guessing that means this particular product is light.

-This product was made with a considerable amount of natural ingredients, such as fruit extracts, green tea leaf extracts, and beeswax.

-Unlike all of the other mascaras I tried on, this one didn't bother my eyes! Which is a HUGE plus because I never could find a mascara that didn't burn, sting, or make my eyes itch.

Cons:

-Wearing it for the night, I did see a little flakiness; Keyword, 'Little.'

-The mascara made my eyelashes feel sticky. I'm not sure if that's general with all mascaras or not, but I wasn't a huge fan of that feeling.

All in all though, I was THRILLED that I found a mascara that I wasn't sensitive to! And I had no idea how long my eyelashes were until I put on Becca's ultimate mascara! I'm by no means a pro at putting on makeup so the pictures do seem a little plain{click to enlarge}, but you can really tell by the middle one what the mascara looked like at a side angle::

Health Update Thursday(6/16)

I must warn you all, this is going to be a very uneventful Health Update Thursday.

I seem to have plateaued. Where I'm not completely amazing, and where I'm not completely horrible. I can't say that it bothers me at all, though, because truth is, I'm very content right now.

My M.I. gave me a list of things to take and I'm going to have to wrap and zap sometime in the near future, but other then that not much has happened good or bad. Wait, I take that back-I've been having symptoms of Tom lately, which is very odd because I still have a good 2+ weeks until his next visit...

Strange.

My legs have been very wishy washy lately, too. One minute their fine and the next they're in complete pain. Then the next I'm too weak to walk. Thankfully, the past 2 days have been strong enough to get by *knock wood*

I'm always exhausted, but generally that's how I usually am-I'm just good at pushing through it. Sleeping has been getting better when I decide to go to sleep at night {there's just so much I need to get done!}.

The full moon last night has been doing it's fair share of messing with my body, too, so that was fun to go through O.o

But worry not my bloggy friends, I'm hanging in there just fine :)

The 22nd Annual Energy Fair June 17th-19th

For those of you who are in, around, or can travel up to Central Wisconsin {7 miles east of Stevens Point to be exact}, I'd love to share with you an amazing event going on this week and weekend, June 17th-19th!

My family and I are very much into anything self sustaining, outdoors, eco-friendly, etc etc and when we have an opportunity to expand our knowledge on the subjects, we take it! That's why last year when we heard about the annual energy fair up in Wisconsin, we didn't hesitate to hop in our car and drive the 3 hours to join in on all the fun.

If you're looking for a few things to sway your decision, well, here you go!

  • Over 275 exhibitors - sustainable living and energy products
  • Over 200 workshops - from introductory level to advanced hands-on education
  • Clean Energy Car Show - demonstration vehicles and workshops
  • Green Home Pavilion - focused on building and remodeling in a sustainable way
  • Green Building Demo - see sustainable building techniques in action
  • Sustainable Tables - workshops, chef demos, and a farmers' market bringing sustainability to your dinner table
  • Inspirational keynotes, lively entertainment, great food, and local beer

I have to say that last year was truly amazing! My only regret was that I couldn't attend ALL the lectures and workshops. I really wish we could go back up this year, but I'm not sure if I'm well enough to go unfortunately, and we'll just say that it's definitely not wheelchair friendly. If you go, take lots of pictures for me, okay?!

If you want more information, directions, or ticket pricing info, you can go to their website HERE.

**Disclaimer: I was not compensated in any way for posting about this event-All opinions expressed in this post are strictly mine. I wrote this with the purpose of my readers and their enjoyment in mind**

Lovable Labels BlogHer’ 11 Getaway Contest

Normally, a teenager's high school experience lasts for 4 years-Each school year starting roughly on, or around the end of August and ending on, or around the beginning of June. Each child has to attend high school all 4 years, and ideally, they achieve the end result: A diploma that universally states, "Hey, I did my 4 years and now I'm outta here!"

Normally, 4 years is the requirement. I only did 1.

How could that be possible you ask? I have chronic Lyme Disease. I was diagnosed when I was 14 year old in the middle of my 8th grade year at the beginning of 2004. For those of you who aren't familiar with Lyme, it affects each person it hits differently-we all have some of the same 'normal' symptoms like fatigue, joint, muscle, and nerve pain, brain fog, weakened immune system, food sensitivities, and many other things, but ultimately, we all experience it differently.

I was hit neurologically, and a great deal of the time, my legs didn't work; I was too weak or in pain to walk. Added to that was my immense global body pain, draining fatigue, weakened immune system, brain fog so bad, I forgot how to read, insomnia where I would be up for days at a time without any rest, hopping from doctor to doctor, treatment to treatment...

As you can see, that can make it difficult to get up and attend school on a regular 8 hour basis.

It was a very long, grueling, emotional journey-Yes, I WAS in school for 4 years, but cumulatively, I only physically attended about 1 regular year; the longest I was physically in school was a whole semester my Junior year. Besides that, I was put on homebound status for all 4 years, which basically means someone picked up my homework and dropped it off.

The rest was up to me.

Because most of my teachers wouldn't be able to meet me while I was taking their class, to them, I was a delinquent. I wasn't in their class, which automatically made me not worthy of their time, so even gathering up the homework that I was required to do was an obstacle in and of itself.

Of course there where those teaching and administrative angels who took time out of their busy schedule to help me get through, and to them, I am truly and eternally grateful. My biggest supporter, aside from my mother, was my homebound tutor, Judy. I couldn't have made it without any of them!

That doesn't diminish the constant uphill battle that took place for 4 long years. I had to work ten times as hard as any other student because of my limitations. The person teaching the material was me with the text book, notes, and internet. The person making sure everything was done and turned in on time was me. The person trying to figure out a problem when she didn't understand the material and the teachers wouldn't email a response to her question was me. The person who had to fight a failing grade on a test due to the fact that she was too sick to complete it at the time was me.

I did it all with a fiery determination though. That diploma was going to be mine no matter what I had to do!

High school was the hardest thing I've ever had to do in my life thus far, but looking back, I KNOW it was my greatest accomplishment; who else can say they completed high school almost singlehandedly and graduated on time with a 3.4 GPA?

That was 3 years ago. Yes, to this day I still have health problems, and yes, because I was restricted from taking certain classes in high school due to not being there, I'm very behind in college. None of that really matters though-If anything, I've learned if I have the will and drive to do something like complete and graduate high school on my own, I can make anything happen.

Never Let Me Go *Movie Review*

 Movie Synopsis:

Based on Kazuo Ishiguro's novel, Never Let Me Go centers around friends Kathy (Carey Mulligan), Tommy (Andrew Garfield) and Ruth (Keira Knightley) who all lived and grew up together in a world that was preordained for them.

Through their years at the strict and highly organized boarding school, Hailsham, to their time together at 'The Cottages,' these three life-long friends learned early on of the terrible thing they were created for, and the fact that they wouldn't live to reach adulthood.

With that premise in mind, they accepted their lives, and lived to the best of their abilities. Aside from needing to be completely healthy, they fell in love. They felt true loss. They had fun when they could. Too bad they didn't realize what life had in store for them, or as Kathy said in the movie, "She would have held onto them longer if she knew."

My Thoughts:

On the surface, this movie is all about the love triangle between Kathy, Tommy, and Ruth; Kathy, the quiet and understanding one, having fell in love with Tommy early on in their friendship, Ruth, the selfish and manipulative one, knowing Kathy loved Tommy, but pursing him anyway, and Tommy, the temperamental and creative one, stuck between feeling obligation and true love.

Look deeper into things, though, and you realize love is such a trite thing compared to what these three face their entire, short-lived lives. They were created for a single purpose, and no matter what rumors they heard otherwise or how hard they tried, there was no changing that.

I'm very much into these weird kind of indie films, so I really liked it, even though it was heart-wrenchingly depressing. It made you REALLY think about life, about love, and about dying. In another place and time, this could very well be what people do. Is it right? Is it fair?

I guess you'll just have to watch the movie and be the judge of that yourself!

**This is an opinion solely based on my thoughts and opinions of the movie in question and no one elses. I was not influenced one way or another to write the subject matter in this review, so if you don't like it or don't agree with it, that is your choice and I fully respect it so please extend me the same curtsy**

It Runs in the Family....

I've been a bad blogger! A bad, bad blogger!

I completely forgot to share the pictures I took of my Sister's Win that came via UPS awhile ago-Two boxes choked full of organic hair care goodies.

I don't have the exact count, but I know in one box was 6 sets of Renpure shampoos and conditioners {12 bottles all together}, and in the next box was several bottles of Renpure hair spray, styling gel, moose, and a few other things.

What a haul, huh?!

 {My sister and her prize(s)-I made her pose for me. LOL}

{What was in box #1-The smaller of the two}

{She even OPENS the package like a pro ;) }

{What was in package #2-The bigger of the two}

{A final tally on her score-I'm so proud *tear*}

Happy Birthday CM!

I just wanted to take a moment on this particular Monday in June to wish a fellow Illinoisan, and downright wonderful lady a very happy birthday! Being an internet dweller like I am, I've met many interesting and unique people over the past several years, and I must say, Dolly of XmasDolly is definitely one of the most memorable ones yet :)

I love you my CM and I wanted to wish you a happy, happy birthday!!

Well, do I!? Hehe.

Mailbox Monday(6/13)

Mailbox Monday divulges into the inner workings of my mailbox throughout the week. From books to jewelry to free samples to random magazines and letters-You never know what will be in the mail this week...

***********************************************************************

My winning streak is back {for how long, who knows?}!

Thanks to Kimberly of She Scribes, I won $15 towards Arby's!

Looks like my boyfriend is gonna be eating good xD

This HAS to be the coolest thing I've seen in a while!

Thanks to a freebie from NetCarats.com, I got a ring sizer-Now the thing you have to know is I've been applying to get a ring sizer for awhile now.

Every freebie I see, I apply for, and thus far, I haven't gotten a single one!

I think the universe was just waiting to send me THIS ring sizer because frankly, it's genius!

And not only did I get the ring sizer, but they offered me a 10% off discount on my next purchase :) The fact that I really can't afford diamond jewelry doesn't take away from the niceness of the percentage off. Lol

What did you get in the mail this week?
