May is Lyme Disease Awareness Month

We're already over halfway through April-Can you believe that?! This year is going by so fast let me tell you....well, I'm sure I don't HAVE to tell you cause you already know! O.o

Since we're already halfway through April, that means May comes next, and May is a very special month for me. May is Lyme Disease Awareness month.

By now, all of you know that I've been battling Lyme Disease for 7+ years, and it's probably the hardest thing I have and will ever have to face in my lifetime. It's been a constant struggle to just live my day to day life for 7 long years-Whether I'll be too sick or in pain to do anything, too weak to walk, too tired to go to school or hang out with my friends is a minute, hour, and daily worry.

I can't even plan to do anything a few days in advance because I just don't know if I'll take a turn for the worse and get sick before I can make it to my plan!

The first few years were concentrated around doctors, treatments and tests. I've been to over 100 doctors, done some of the most painful, intrusive and degrading tests a person can go through, and some not-so-pleasant and uncomfortable treatments.

The bottom line I'm trying to get at here is Lyme destroys lives if you let it. Thankfully I haven't let it, but like I said, it's a daily struggle. Sadly, there are many who let it claim them, and May is for them, along with all of the other wonderful, amazing, and strong 'Lymies' out there.

I'm attempting to put together an event for Lyme Disease Awareness Month, and we'll see how that goes, but regardless, would you be kind enough to grab this button and display it on your page for the duration of May to show support to me, to other Lyme Disease sufferers, to their families, and to those lives lost battling this disease?

It would mean a lot to me.

Thank you all for your continued support!

I really hope this event turns out :)

I researched Lyme Disease recently in an effort to learn a little bit more about what you're suffering with and I'm happy to report I knew awareness month was next month! :). I'll be happy to post your badge on my page...actually it's alreay done.

I am so sorry you struggle with this awful disease - I have heard some terrible things. It sounds like you've taken it by the horns and frequently show it who's the boss. I wish you had more good days than bad though :(

I will be posting this button in May - with pride. PLEASE DON'T let me forget when May 1st arrives!!

Love you (hugs)

Hey Kayla, I have a question. Is the American Lyme Disease Foundation a good source of accurate information about Lyme Disease? I posted a link to it on my blog, but if there are any better ones, I would love to post those too! :) Hope you are feeling ok!!!
