Slapdash Sunday(5/23)

Slapdash Sunday is a day for your proverbial week 'leftovers.' Is there something you wanted to say, but just forgot? Is there something you want to write about, but isn't worth a whole page? Do you have a random thought, funny or otherwise that needs to be written down?
That is what Slapdash Sunday is for!

***********************************************************************

I'm extremely sad because one of my favorite shows, 10 Things I Hate About You on ABC Family, was canceled and had it's last show last Monday :(

I know it's silly to be hung up over a tv show, but for some reason it's cancellation depressed me a great deal.

Does this mean I should just give up tv all together if I'm going to get emotionally attached to these stupid shows!?

Speaking of television, most of the fall shows are wrapping up their seasons to make way for the summer shows-Thankfully my two favorite shows (Bones and Castle) are coming back for a 6th and 3rd season, but I have to say that I REALLY hated their season finales.

Seriously, can you say LET. DOWN?

Calling All Mothers and Mothers-To-Be...

Photobucket

I was contacted last night by a wonderful woman who asked me if I would be willing to put her event button up on my 'current events' scroll-To this my answer was...OF COURSE!

Nicole of Mama to 3 Blessings is currently a mother of 3 (5, 2, & 1 years old) and just learned that her and hubby are expecting their 4th child in December!

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww ^.^

Anyway, she is having a Pregnancy Party/Baby Bash Event where she will be reviewing and offering giveaways for cloth diapers, maternity products, baby products, etc, as well as offering her mothering wisdom with tips and tricks on washing cloth diapering, baby wearing, etc.

So if you are a mother with little ones or are expecting like Nicole, I think this bash is right up your alley ;)

Head on over and offer your congrats to her and her family!

The Losers *Movie Review*

Synopsis:

A group of elite special forces are deep undercover in the Bolivian jungle attempting to stop a drug smuggling ring when the tables are suddenly flipped, and they find themselves the one's being hunted...

And killed.

However, through a sheer twist of fate, they are all left alive and forced into hiding-That is until their leader meets a sexy and mysterious stranger dangling the prospect of revenge before the group.

How can they let slip the opportunity to come face to face with the man who called for each of their executions?

Once back in the United States, the group finds themselves facing the fact that some things are the same as they had left them and some are vastly different.

Are they enough to come up against the mysterious voice over the radio, or will this be a suicide mission like the sexy stranger blatantly told them? Can they even trust her at all?

My Thoughts:

This movie had SO much promise when I watched it's trailer-I mean special forces, oh-so-hot guys, action, adventure, romance...

Sounded like my kind of movie alright ;)

I can't say this movie is a bad one because it really isn't-It had me entertained the whole way through! However I really didn't see the point in it what so ever.

Yes, it has the whole wronged-person-seeking-revenge movie angle which is always somewhat predictable, but this movie just seemed like it was thrown together spur of the moment.

It had some great humor, amazing faces (HELLLLLO Jeffrey Dean Morgan), and kick-ass action scenes, but just didn't flow very well.

Maybe it was just me? Definitely give it a watch for yourself and see what you think!

The Beginning and the End

As per recommendation from my lovely friend Lorie of The Shewbridges of Celebration, FL, I'm starting off this blog post with this phrase:

I'm done with school and I have great news: Guess what!? I got all A's!

Granted, it was only two classes, but after being out of school for almost two years it was incredibly hard to get back into the groove of things-Let me tell you, I always blew off my mum when she said, 'Once you stop, you'll not want to go back."

Needless to say, she was right.

Anyway, when I first started the classes in the middle of March, I really thought I was going to fail out of them-The Biology started off with things I hadn't had since Sophomore year and with the accelerated 8-week course schedule, we had a quiz every class (2 classes a week x 8 weeks = 16 classes) and a test what seemed like every week.

The speech class I took was what they classified as a hybrid; this basically means that I went to class to give my speech every two weeks and in between classes we had to write our speeches and do chapter reviews from the book-I really enjoyed how that worked out!

I guess those 8 weeks taught me a few things about myself::

-All you can do is the best you can
-Note cards are Biology major's best friend
-Other people are just as nervous giving their speeches as you are
-Extra credit is like gold
-Sometimes, you REALLY surprise yourself with what you can accomplish

My favorite moment is when I got my second Biology test back; I thought I got a solid B and I was pretty happy until the teacher was passing back the tests and said there was an F floating around, which kind of deflated my confidence...Until I got my test.

Exhibit A. LITERALLY!

Apparently, my Biology buddy who sat next to me said my face turned tomato red and she immediately thought, "Poor girl-she got the F." LOL

It's still kind of intimidating thinking I still have 58 credits to go before I have my associates degree (while most of my friends are done or finishing theirs up), but I figure hope it goes by fast!

Hence the title of this post: The beginning (of my college life) and the end (of my two starting classes).

Right now, I'm just happy with the 6 credits I have-Take a gander at this GPA:

Now if only I can keep it like that ;)

Thanks for supporting me everyone-It means so much to me that I have you guys backing me up!!

The Mayonnaise Jar

I got this the other day from a family member and I just had to share it because it's such a great {and true} life lesson!

The Mayonnaise Jar

When things in your life seem almost too much to handle,

When 24 hours in a day is not enough;
remember the
mayonnaise jar and 2 cups of coffee.

A professor stood before his philosophy class
and had some items in front of him.

When the class began, wordlessly,

he picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar
and start to fill it with golf balls.

He then asked the students if the jar was full..
They agreed that it was.

The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured
it into the jar. He shook the jar lightly.
The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls.

He then asked the students again

if the jar was full. They agreed it was.

The professor next picked up a box of sand
and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else

He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded
With an unanimous 'yes.'

The professor then produced two cups of coffee from under the table
and poured the entire contents into the jar, effectively
filling the empty space between the sand.
The students laughed.

'Now,' said the professor, as the laughter subsided,
'I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life.

The golf balls are the important things - God, family,
children, health, friends, and favorite passions
Things that if everything else was lost
and only they remained, your life would still be full.

The pebbles are the things that matter like your job, house, and car.

The sand is everything else --

The small stuff.

'If you put the sand into the jar first,' he continued,
'there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls.
The same goes for life.

If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff,
You will never have room for the things that are
important to you..

So...

Pay attention
to the things that are critical to your happiness.
Play with your children.

Take time to get medical checkups.

Take your partner out to dinner.

There will always be time
to clean the house and fix the dripping tap.

'Take care of the golf balls first --

The things that really matter.

Set your priorities. The rest is just sand.'

One of the students raised her hand

and inquired what the coffee represented.

The professor smiled.

'I'm glad you asked'.

It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem,
there's always room for a couple of cups of coffee with a friend.'

Please share this with other "Golf Balls"

I just did......

When Does it END!?

I thought the 'being busy' phase was over now that I'm out of school...

I. Was. WRONG!

Note:: I'm still planning on writing a post all about school and how classes went. It should be up sometime this week if things go right!

I'm busier then ever-Just not studying 20 out of 24 hours out of the day. LOL

It's been go, go, go ever since I left:

-Hanging out with friends
-2 days of pole dancing a week
-45 minutes of exercise daily
-Cleaning
-Catching up on emails
-Job seeking (post to come)
-Getting ready for the Polish people(post to come)
-Getting ready and working our garage sale

The list could go on and on if I let it!

I'm trying to balance my 'real life' with my 'online life,' but it doesn't seem to be working. For those of you who have kids and husbands and jobs and households-HOW DO YOU DO IT!?

Tips and or advice please?!

I guess this post is to let you know I'm trying to get back into the groove of blogging and whatnot, so please be patient-I'm around here somewhere whether it be at the actual computer, cleaning my room, or hanging upside down on a pole(I really should take pictures to share!).

Love all you guys!

P.S. At the moment it's 10:15pm Saturday evening and I'm falling asleep with my eyes open while my muscles scream and curse my name-So I'll try to get Slapdash Sunday up sometime today!

Oprah Trip:: Day 2

If you missed the first and or second installment of the Oprah Trip Series, you can view it HERE and or HERE.

*********************************************************************
Wednesday

Even though our hotel room was exceptionally beautiful, beauty didn't help the three of us sleep any better that night. Call it part excitement, part unfamiliar surroundings, but as far as I know, between the three of us we only got a couple hours of sleep.

That did NOT keep us from getting up at 4:00 am to start the getting ready process-Thankfully we all showered the night before, so it was mostly getting dressed, doing the hair and putting on the makeup.

Let's just say those two hours went by in a flash!

{Me all dressed up and ready to go}

Even though we still had an hour to get to the studio (we had to be there by 7:00), we weren't able to find a place to eat in time-Knowing that, we just gave up on trying to find a place to grab a bite and set off for the studio.

Unlike the 2.2 miles we walked yesterday to the theaters, this was a breeze through-Quite literally! They don't call it the windy city for nothing ;)

Oprah's studio was only about 2 or 3 blocks from the hotel so we had no problems getting there.

{Pretty self explanatory-If you look down to the left, you can see part of the big ass line Lol}

We knew we had arrived when we saw one big ass line of people out front. LOL The thing that we were a bit concerned about was where we were supposed to go-See, at the movie last night, the lady who coordinated the event handed us a piece of paper saying we had to go to a different entrance from a different street...

The big ass line of people wasn't our entrance.

So upon arrival, we saw a group of people outside a loading-dock type of door, so we figured that's where we were supposed to be.

Me, Krysten and Mum start walking down and all of a sudden we here:

"OH MY GOD, THERE SHE IS!"

Of course, we didn't know who 'She' was, so we were all looking around at whom these people where screaming about. Later we would realize that they probably thought my sister was Kristen Stewart a.k.a Bella in the series.

I'm thinking from a distance she MIGHT have looked like her? Or the ladies heard me say the name 'Krysten/Kristen'?

Either way, it was quite humorous!

Turns out though those ladies weren't there to get into Oprah at all (although I'm sure they would have sold their mother for a ticket)-They were just waiting to catch a glimpse of the stars being brought in.

When we asked them if it was the right entrance, they all jumped on us..

"You actually have TICKETS!?!?!?! NO! You need to go to the other side!"

Which was followed by:

"Tell Edward we LOVE HIM!!!"

HA.

Unfortunately I wasn't able to do that >.< {If you click and enhance, you can see the crowd waiting for the stars to arrive-That is what they looked like at 6:30. You should have seen the crowed when they finally arrived!}

{O-O-Oprah! I wish I had worn heels >.<}

{Bring on the Twilight cast!}

We finally found our entrance and bid goodbye to our mum. We still felt bad that she had to sit in the hotel room while we were at Oprah, but we dare not say it because she would have yelled at us again. Lol

That was then the wait began.

It took a good half hour before we were in the building, another 20 minutes to check in, 10 on security and bag check and then another 45 or so minutes just waiting to be seated.

It was totally worth every minute though!

I'm not exactly sure what I can and can't tell you so I'm just going to tell you some of the highlights:

-We got AMAZING seats again thanks again to Krysten!
-Her studio is smaller then I thought it would be.
-It was so surreal being so close to the cast of Twilight!
-Oprah is much shorter in person.
-The cast didn't realize the whole audience got to see Eclipse the night before so they were all shocked ^.^

The taping went by so fast-Seriously, if I didn't have photographic proof we had been there, I STILL wouldn't believe it!

Of course I saved the best for last; When we were seated, I was the one who got the end seat closest to the stage exit. When the taping wrapped up and the stars started to exit, my sister (being the loving and kind person that she is) yelled 'GO' and pushed me toward Rob. LOL

Okay here's the scoop: I'm not the crazy, stalker type fan that rushes the stars just to touch them. I'm more of the obsessive, devoted but-still-sane fan that realizes rushing the stars might make them scared.

Which is why I did not rush Rob.

My sister said it was a once in a lifetime opportunity and she would have done it, but I still stick by my actions.

What do you all think?

Anyway, being Oprah and all, you realize she couldn't send us off without something! I was surprised when they announced we would all be getting gift certificates for a replica of Bella's engagement ring-Here it is:

{Image Credit}

I got the silver one (even though the one from the Eclipse book is gold). We already sent in for our rings so we should be getting those soon!!

*********************************************************************

So all in all, this was almost THE perfect trip.

Like I said, what would have made it 100% perfect would have been:

1. If we actually MET the cast
2. If we had grabbed a taxi to the theater

But seriously, I can live without those things-This trip was a once in a lifetime deal and I'm so happy that I got to experience it :)

I hope you enjoyed reading about the trip cause I certainly enjoyed writing about it!

Love and Energies.

Oprah Trip:: Day 1

If you missed the first installment of the Oprah Trip Series, you can view it HERE.

*********************************************************************
Tuesday

It's always funny when things like this happen to you-If it's important or life altering enough, you drop EVERYTHING to get there, which is exactly what the three of us did...

I skipped Biology (kinda)
Krysten came back from college for a day
Mum dropped all her mother/wife duties

I mean, it is OPRAH WINFREY after all! Not only that, this is her last season before she moves onto bigger and better things. And of course Twilight(nuff said)!

Those three things imprinted in our minds, we drove, dropped off, drove, picked up, went shopping, looked up train scheduling, packed, repacked, packed some more and of course drove a lot more.

My hands were tied with the whole Biology thing-I needed to go in to take the quiz that day and sit through the test prep for the upcoming test which conveniently happened to be that Thursday(so much for studying LOL). The greatest thing is that day we were supposed to have a movie day and do the test prep afterword, but when I went in we skipped the quiz I was all set to take, and did the test prep before the movie started.

Woohoo! How beautiful did that turn out!?

I loved my excuse for why I had to leave early: "Boy do I have an excuse for you! I got tickets to the Oprah show, so I have to leave early to catch my train." Even though it was COMPLETELY true, I don't think he bought it ;)

Once I got out of there, we headed straight to the train station-Unfortunately we couldn't do the station near us, so we had to go 45 minutes away to the other station and even then it was cutting it really close. The whole trip there I was thinking we were going to miss our train and have to take the later one which would have thrown everything out of whack.

Thanks to my crazy driver of a dad, we got there JUST in time. I remember thinking this trip was special because never have any of our trips run so smoothly...NEVER!

The train ride there was quite uneventful except for my mum boasting that we were going to be on Oprah to random strangers and a couple of girls who stopped dead in their tracks (with other people waiting behind them), pointed at my shirt and said, "Look, a Twilight shirt!"

Here are a few snapshots I got from the train ride:

Once we got off the train, it was a matter of finding the hotel-Thankfully we had figured things out before hand so we had a printout of the hotel's address and a phone with GPS capabilities.

Of course it didn't hurt that our hotel was no more then 2 blocks from the station :)

{My sister in front of our hotel}

{Mum and Krys relaxing a bit before we have to leave again}

{It was an extremely nice room!}

{The view from our room's private balcony}

If we had missed that first train, we wouldn't have been able to check in to the hotel, drop off all of our stuff and freshen up for the movie; so now you see the importance of the first train! Thankfully we were able to do all that stuff and leave for the theater in plenty of time.

Here's where that whole taxi story comes into play....

My dear mother who is a born and bread Chicagoan hates cabbies-So when we set out for the theaters, we thought we would walk a few blocks and catch a cab. I think subconsciously she didn't want to deal with cabbies because she just kept saying, "Oh, it's just the next street over," and ,"I just saw a sign so we're close."

Whether she saw a sign has yet to be confirmed, but to make a long story short, we ended up walking the whole way there.

All 2.2 miles of it.

In Chicago, that's over 20 city blocks.

By the time we actually reached the theaters, my back was cursing her name. I actually think she was cursing her OWN name. Lol

{Us girls getting decked out in our Twilight gear ready to see Eclipse}

Side note:: That shirt my sister is wearing was aquired Monday when we went to the mall totally by accident-My mum just happened to ask if this store had any Twilight shirts and this was their last one...In the store room.

Guess how much it was?

$1.00

Just another thing that made this trip meant-to-be!

Anywho, we had to wait in a few lines for awhile, go through security checks (they're really serious when they say no cell phones or cameras), and get the necessities: ticket, bracelet, popcorn and pop (which was generously provided for us as well).

Once all those obstacles were covered, it was into the theater we go! At first we had horrible seats, but Krysten found us better ones right smack dab in the center of the theater-You couldn't have asked for better seats if you tried :D

*********************************************************************

For all those Twilight fans out there counting down the days until Eclipse comes out (June 30th)-Let me just say this movie is TOTALLY 100% worth the wait!

Seriously, even though we just got a rough cut of the movie, it still left me speechless.

I can't wait to see it again when it comes out!!

*********************************************************************

My sister and I felt really bad because the whole time we were enjoying the movie, our mother was outside waiting for us :(

Of course when we brought this up to her she yelled at us because this was the trip of a lifetime and we shouldn't feel bad. Lol

Thankfully we found her immediately after the movie ended talking with a really nice lady (at least she had someone to talk to). She sure knows how to pick them though: apparently this lady was the one person who chauffeurs the stars to Harpo Studios!

The day before she had driven Justin Bieber to the show and I believe she was driving the Twilight cast the next day...Too bad we couldn't catch a ride with her ;)

This time though we DID get a cab back to our hotel (after about 20 minutes of attempted cab hailing)-By this time we hadn't had time to eat all day so we went back to our room and immediately ordered room service.

Those are two firsts for me:

*My first cab ride
*My first room service order

We were all extremely tired, so we showered up, ate, and got ready for bed.
After all we did have to get up at 4 the next morning for Oprah >.<

Come back tomorrow to hear and see all about our Oprah experience and how my sister's apparently famous!

Love and Energies.

Oprah Trip:: The Beginning

I promised all of you this post and now it's finally here...

Oprah Trip!!!

Oh yes indeed, a whole series of posts dedicated to our incredible, two-day, whirlwind Chicago trip :)

If I believed in the prospect of 'perfection,' this trip came Pretty. Damn. Close. The only thing that would have made it perfect would be:

1. If we actually MET the cast
2. If we had grabbed a taxi to the theater (explanation to come)

Now before I dive deep into this dream-come-true type happenstance, I quickly have to make a note to all my readers that I CANNOT divulge any inner happenings of the rough cut of the Twilight Saga: Eclipse or the inner workings of the Oprah taping.

{I signed a release form and I don't intend to be sued thank you very much}

That being said, I still have some great stories ;)

*********************************************************************

Monday

Once upon a time about two weeks ago, we got a phone call from my sister who was down at college for her last few days before Summer vacation-My mother answered the phone and after a pause, all I heard was, "YOU'RE NOT SERIOUS?!"

Of course when she hung up the phone five minutes later, she wouldn't tell me what was going on. I finally forced it out of her {not really-she sucks at keeping secrets} with these hints:

*"This has been on my bucket list forever!"
*What are you obsessed over?
*Who do I watch everyday at 4:00?

Knowing me, I got the second and third right (Twilight and Oprah), but I didn't put 2+2 together to make 4, so I was a tad confused there for awhile. LOL

I FINALLY got it and we were quite literally freaking out the next two hours before we heard from Krysten again-Those were quite a scary few hours because we thought we weren't going to get the tickets due to the fact that the people called my sister in the middle of one of her finals >.<

Anywho, scary part aside, we got the call, and we were in!

Side Note:: Apparently, my sister had written in on MY behalf because she knew what an OBSESSIVE huge Twilight fan I am...2 YEARS AGO when the first Twilight movie came out. How amazing is that!?

Now for the real hard part(s): Packing and actually getting there. You know when something epic like this happens it's a MUST to get a new outfit! I mean, what kind of woman would I be if I wore something...old!?

Okay, so I totally would have worn something if I HAD anything in the ol' closet! But because I didn't, it was off to the mall to look for something to wear, which we found in the nick of time. Seriously, we bought the stuff 5 minutes before Penny's closed at 9:00pm.

So to recap:

-Tickets:: check
-New outfit:: check
-Packing:: almost!
-All ready:: definitely not

Come back tomorrow to see if we made our train on time. LOL
Oh, and of course to hear all about the hotel and movie experience!

Love and Energies.
Kayla

Of course I didn't know this at the time and after a good month or so, I contacted Tiaras to see what was up-We realized what happened and yes, I was disappointed, but I understand things like this happen.

Well, she was too incredibly sweet and sent me a different movie for the trouble! I can't wait to watch Ladies of the House :D

Thank you so much again Tiaras!

What did you get in the mail this week?

Featured Blogger Friday(4/30)-Frugal Plus

I know that I haven't done a Featured Blogger Friday post in some time now and I do apologize for that!!

Just a little under one week to go until I'm done with school completely :)

Today I bring you an exceptional lady named Jill-you may know her from her successful frugal-living blog, Frugal Plus.

Please welcome her to The Element and enjoy her interview!

Q. What’s your name and blog? What other information would you like to share?

Jill @ Frugal Plus

I've had the "Savings Bug" for as long as I can remember. Being a WAHM with several Kiddo's in the house, it really does add up and I get a Great Satisfaction out of getting the best deal possible! I enjoy sharing these Savings with my readers, and I have the extreme pleasure of getting them "addicted" as well LOL :)

Q. Why did you choose that name for your blog?

I knew that I would post more than just coupon savings, so I wanted to add that "Plus" in there for all the other exciting entries, such as the reviews, giveaways and freebies.

Q. Why did you start blogging?

I had posted on message boards for several years sharing freebies & coupons, and a friend of mine approached me and asked if I wanted to to start a blog together as we have many of the same interests. I said "Of Course!" and that is how it all started. Since then, she has started her own blog and is also successful!

Q. What kind of stuff do you cover with your blog? Is there a specific genre you write about or is the sky the limit?

I post entries on printable coupons, coupon codes, deals & offers, along with those fabulous freebies! I also luv doing reviews and sharing those findings with others. I've been lucky enough to get several review offers a week. I also post other sweepstakes from around the net that look to be an awesome win.

I also have a passion for reading along with the rest of my family, and that is reflected on my blog with on-going book reviews and giveaways.

Q. What is one must read post that you have written {Include Link}?

One must read? Hmmmm... I don't think I could pick just one. My favorites are the printable coupons that I can use In-Store (we never go out to eat without a coupon in hand and/or take advantage of Kids Eat Free nights)

Q. Name one thing you love about your blogging job.

I do have a lot of Fun blogging! I've made several new friends since becoming a blogger, and it's interesting to take a peek inside their lives through their blogs or through their personal emails.

Q. Name one thing you’re not quite fond of about your blogging job.

Some weeks I do feel overwhelmed with what I need to get done. I've learned to take a step back and always put family first; the other things can and do wait.

Q. What’s one random fact about you?

I grew up in the Midwest and do miss the slower paced country lifestyle. I grew up driving where everyone was friendly and waved at you, and you knew your neighbors. For the past 26 years I've lived in a huge metro California city and they may wave during rush hour traffic, but it's not the kinda wave you want LOL.

Q. Inspiration comes in many forms for different people. What inspires you?

I get several emails and/or comments saying, "Thank You" from readers that have taken advantage of some of the savings, have purchased a product because of my review on it, or have won a giveaway and are truly grateful for the time and work I spend putting into Frugal Plus. It always puts a smile on my face :)

I have to put a shout-out to my wonderful husband as well, he's always supported anything that I've wanted to do and is there for me always, cheering me on.

Q. Where else can we find you(Personal Website, Etsy Shop, Twitter, Facebook, Etc.)?

I have two accounts on Twitter Coupons4Me which for whatever reason, I end up being on the most, and of course my blog account, FrugalPlus

On Facebook you can 'Like Me' on my Frugal Plus page and my own personal page

Rampin' It Up

"Allium tricoccum, commonly known as ramps, spring onion, ramson, wild leek, or ail des bois (French), is a member of the onion family (Alliaceae). Found in groups with broad, smooth, light green leaves, often with deep purple or burgundy tints on the lower stems and a scallion-like bulb strongly rooted just beneath the surface of the soil. Both the white lower leaf stalks and the broad green leaves are edible. A common description of the flavor is like a combination of onions and strong garlic."

Why the sudden vegetable lesson?

Well, as you know, my family is very outdoorsy and connected to the earth-We love anything having to do with the outdoors:

*Hiking*Biking
*Walking
*Hunting*Fishing
*Camping (even though we've never really been)
*Kayaking
*etc etc

That being said, my dad came back home the other day with three FULL bags of these extremely pungent, beautifully colored ramps that he happened to stumble upon while mushroom hunting.

{Note:: He did not bring home any mushrooms LOL}

I thought you all would love to see these little beauties all cleaned and fixed up :)

I highly recommend that if you have a chance to pick and/or eat FRESH ramps, you go for it! They are incredibly yummy and go very well in many different recipes :)

Alvin and the Chipmunks 2 **Movie Review**

Movie Synopsis:

Picking up from where they left off, Alvin (voice of Justin Long), Simon (voice of Matthew Gray Gubler), and Theodor (voice of Jesse McCartney) are living it large and basking in their new found fame along with their manager and adoptive father Dave (Jason Lee).

A freak accident leaves Dave stuck in the hospital in France, entrusting the chipmunks care to their Aunt Jackie (Kathryn Joosten)-Unfortunately, another freak accident incapacitates Aunt Jackie and the boys are left with their totally scatterbrained, video game addicted cousin, Toby (Zachary Levi).

Back home and under the supervision (kind of) of a new person, the boys have a lot of down-time...Too bad Dave is making them go to public school! Alvin, Simon, and Theodore start on their new public school adventure and encounter many different things they've never had to deal with: teachers, bullies, football, and girls ;)

More importantly, the Chipettes, female singing chipmunks under the influence of their old manager, Ian (David Cross). Too bad these ladies don't realize just how manipulative and rotten Ian really is. Trusting him with their future, the Chipettes don't know what's about to hit them.

Having been around the Ian-block once, will the Chipmunks be able to help the girls out of Ian's greedy grasp?

My Thoughts:

To be completely honest, I could only get halfway through the first Chipmunk movie before I got bored and just switched it off, so I came into this one kind of expecting the same happening.

To my surprise, I was entertained throughout the whole movie-Of course it dragged a bit in spots, but I thought it was an overall cute movie!

This is definitely a movie that you can watch with 'the family' on a family movie night, so if you have young children between the ages of 2 to maybe 13 or 14, it's a great movie to add to your collection :)

I do have to express my complete and utter shock at the voices behind the chipmunks and the chipettes! Seriously, I would never have guessed these people would be behind these furry-little singing animals. LOL

A Walk Through the Woods

It's been quite a while since I had visited the local state park-I'm going to say I haven't REALLY visited since I actually worked there back in 08.'

Even though it's nearly a 5 minute drive from us, I just haven't got around to going (which is a total shame)...

Anyway, I was finally able to get there and explore some of the beauty that is nature and all her glory a week or so ago-It was utterly fabulous :)

I've decided besides sport pole and the treadmill most days, I really need to get out and reconnect with nature while I'm exercising; breath a little fresh air or maybe hug a tree!

Yes, I really do go around hugging trees ^.^

Nature is pointing us in the right direction!!

I honestly don't know if this was a natural phenomenon or a man-made one, but I had to take a picture because I thought it was pretty darn cool :)

Apparently, this picture looks like something out of a Dr. Seuss book...

What do you all think?

This is one of my favorite places at the state park because if you ask anybody if they've been to 'the stairs' at Rock Cut, 9 out of 10 people will have NO idea what your talking about. Lol

It's like a little, hidden secret that I can share with those I choose ^.^

Plus it doesn't hurt it's just a stunning spot!
