A Forced (Kinda) Break.

So you know that computer charger that was being temperamental but still worked if you wiggled, jiggled, and jimmy-rigged it?

Yeah, It now refuses to work AT ALL.

I finally broke down and had to order a replacement online that will arrive within '8-10 business days.' I seriously thought of paying the extra $20 for overnight shipping but I really do not have it :-(

Cross your fingers that it's just the charger that crapped out and it's not Charlie-I don't know what I would do if I have to get a new computer....

I start hyperventilating just thinking about it!

Anyway, I apologize to those people who I need to review, feature, and hold giveaways for. I'm on an unfamiliar computer that I can't import pictures/videos/etc, so I'm just going to take the next few days off until I get my charger-This little vacation is definitely well needed, anyway unwanted.

I'll still be checking my email and commenting on other blogs, though, so I won't be totally gone! And I do have one or two posts that are ready for posting, so you can look forward to those.

Love and Energies.

Happy Turkey Day!!

Happy Turkey Day Everyone!!

I figured with everyone busy cleaning, cooking, and entertaining family and friends for most of the day, no one would have time to surf the blogosphere today, so I'm going to take this day off...

As should all of you *points*

That being said, I wish you all a wonderful and happy (not to mention safe) Thanksgiving Day! Spending time with family and friends is such a beautiful thing-And when you throw in some yummy food and that down home-y feeling, you have the Thanksgiving Holiday :)

Enjoy!

Uuuuuugh!

I. HATE. TECHNOLOGY!

**Damnitalltomothereffinhell**

Seriously, my phone seems to be shut off even though we paid the bill on time, Charlie and his friend Mr. Charger had a fight and now he refuses to charge and I can't get my ipod touch because I have to wait to see if Charlie is fixable-If not, guess what the ipod money is going towards?!

Just shoot me now.

As you can see, I'm having technical difficulties so this may be a few days. Thanks in advanced for your understanding and patience!

A Buddhist Monk Named Sal

I had the most wonderful and seldomly offered opportunity on Saturday at about two in the afternoon.

What pray tell would that be? Glad you asked!

I was able to study meditation from a Buddhist monk named Sal (his given name was too hard to pronounce, let alone spell, so he was nice enough to let us call him Sal).

This opportunity was brought into fruitation by Rachel, my yoga instructor-Apparently it's a monthly occurrence, so I knew about it for awhile (a couple of weeks at least) and ever since I heard about it, I've been looking forward to it like a kid would look forward to going into a candy store!

Needless to say, it was more amazing then I can even put into words-There were some great like-minded people in the class, so we all felt at ease with one another and our surroundings. For most of us, this was our first time in a big group, so there was a question and answer round before and after the meditation.

Sal was able to help us get into the 'spirit,' and for our first meditation, we did what's called a love and energy meditation, which is basically you work on bringing self love to yourself and you also send out loving energies to those you are close to and care about.

Like I said, it was just pure amazingness through and through.

There is a retreat on December 5th that I REALLY want to go to in Woodstock, IL, that's like an all day thing and it's lead by these three suburban monks and a nun (I know, it sounds like a bad joke)-Hopefully I'll be lucky enough to go! If not, I can look forward to another meditation class in December :)

Love and Energies.

Thanks to everyone who loves me :D

2. My Lymie friend Suzy, bless her big ol' heart had flowers delivered to me ON my birthday!! Can you believe it? And she lives in California/Arkansas. She actually looked up the nearest florist in the area and placed a delivery-I have to say I was almost in happy tears just thinking about how thoughtful she is.

If your reading this Suzy Q, I love you!!

3. As you know, Max of Krafty Max Originals makes some beautiful jewelry (If you didn't know for some reason, I suggest you check her out) and she was so wonderful to send me a little Birthday present care package-I was seriously stunned!

1. So the 20% off for my 20th Sale in both Etsy shops was a big flop-Although I think that was because of me...I really didn't promote well and it was a seriously LAST minute thing so I shouldn't get too down on myself.

There is always more sale opportunities :)

2. The basement didn't go so well....Actually, the basement didn't go at all. LOL
Although I was able to put my beading station together so pictures are on their way!!

3. "If this is what giving birth feels like, I want to be euthanized."

May I just say: HAHAHA

4. I have so many ideas running around in my head it's insane!

At least they make for good blog posts.

Health Update Thursday(11/19)

So basically everything is going pretty good *quickly knocks on wood*

This past week has found me pretty good health wise-Although 'pretty good' for me is when I'm still mobile(which, thankfully, I am).

Of course I seem to find myself always exhausted, in pain, etc etc, but that doesn't bother me as much anymore because I can actually DO things even though I'm tired, in pain, etc etc-Speaking of which, I had my first yoga class as you all can remember.

I went to the class, did the yoga, got home and then didn't get up for the next few days. LOL I know it's a matter of just watching myself and having my body get used to the physical exercise, which is what I plan on doing!

Oh, Oh, Oh! I'm finally getting me some much needed sleep *quickly knocks on wood again* I find myself beyond exhausted around midnight and that's when I just put everything away and crash until about nine or ten in the morning, which is AMAZING!

Speaking of which, I think it's that time again! Hopefully I didn't bore you with this simple update post, but that's all I got for this week :)

Hope everyone's Thursday is great!
Love and Energies.

Room Renovation: The Paint Outcome

Awhile ago, I told you all that I was going to paint my room-I cleared out my room, got the color at Lowe's, and was ready and raring to go!

Unfortunately, my father was not.

It took about a month, but it's finally painted! Here are the pictures to prove it:

Granted, they aren't the BEST quality pictures(and I do apologize for the dusty armoire-I did clean it up before I put the t.v. back on), but it was about 10 at night and I was tired and completely sore from the painting process-Keep an eye out for the finished product!!

(I have to clean up my room all nice before I show ya'll pictures LOL)

Happy Birthday to ME :)

Happy 20th Birthday to ME!

A huge thanks to everyone who have passed on their happy birthday wishes and energies to me in the past few days!! I really appreciate each and everyone one of you guys :)

That being said, I CAN'T BELIEVE I'm turning twenty-It's still not hitting me that I'm out of my teenage years and into my twenties!

So far nothing eventful has happened: I got to have french toast this morning and we are waiting until Sunday to have our big family dinner since my sister is off at college. Oh, and my Facebook wall is plastered with more wishes for a happy birthday!

I hope you all are having a great day also :)

First Encounter of the Yogi Kind

Last Friday, I had my first my first group yoga class at a local joint just up the street from where I live called the Lazy Dog Yoga Studio.

I just have one thing to say:

~*!*~ I <3 Yoga ~*!*~

My only regret is that I didn't start any sooner! Of course my health got in the way once or twice, but when I finally made it there, I just fell in love with the whole practice. Afterword, I was definitely rubbery-limbed, weak, and hurting, but it was well worth it.

I think half of it is the fact that I have to go slow on the physical exercise front, otherwise I'll end up overdoing things(and back in bed) and the other half is the fact that I'm very deconditioned from being in bed so long and I NEED to push myself to get back in shape.

Now, if that isn't what you call a fine line, I don't know what is!

Anyway, I guess this whole post is just to tell you how much I enjoyed my yoga class and that I'm actually getting off my duff and doing something productive :)

Thanks for listening!
Love and Energies.

Mailbox Monday(11/16)

Mailbox Monday divulges into the inner workings of my mailbox throughout the week. From books to jewelry to free samples to random magazines and letters-You never know what will be in the mail this week...

***********************************************************************

1. My friends are just the best people in the whole world(and yes, this broad spectrum includes all of you guys)!! Seriously, I just can't put into words how amazing you all are-My friend Lisa was such a sweetheart and sent me a copy of her book, The Sister Song: A Story Book for Grown Up Sisters.

She is a fellow Lymie, and has chosen a path full of faith which is what her book is about! When I'm done reading it, I'm definitely going to do a review...Who knows, maybe Lisa will be able to answer a few questions for is!

2. Of course I couldn't pass up a chance for anything free: I got me some 'woman' freebies in the mail this week(you NEVER know when your going to need them).

3. Remember those keychain and address label freebies I got awhile back? Well the same place sent me an AWESOME 2010 mini calender book complete with little pictures and Indian terminology for each month.

I was completely blown away by it!

4. Funny story: I won a giveaway over at Frugal Plus for a autographed copy of Five For Fighting's new CD Slice-Well I got it yesterday via Fedex, opened it up and realized it wasn't signed...Of course the first thing that popped into my mind was, "Oh I was probably mistakin."

Not more then an hour after I opened up the CD, I got a message apologizing for the mix up, that a batch of unsigned CDs went out instead of the signed ones, and that I am to expect a signed copy within the next couple of weeks ON TOP OF the copy I already received.

Now I wish I wouldn't have opened the one I got! Lol

**UPDATE: Two days after I got my First Slice CD, I got the autographed one :)

5. YAYNESS! I got my Hoopnotica Travel Hoola Hoop on Friday :)

I can't wait till I can give it a whirl! (HA HA)

Epic...SUCCESS!

I'm by no means a homey person-I can make myself a bowl of cereal and if I'm feeling very inventive, a sandwich, but usually my mum does all the cooking in the household.

Lately, I've been noticing my mum having a rough time when it comes to the household and the people in it-My sister comes home every weekend from college and has my mum chauffeur her places because she 'needs this' or 'wants that.' As for my dad, I love him dearly but he does nothing to help out my mum what-so-ever. In fact, he makes it even more difficult for her with his absent-mindedness and me, me, me complex.

So seeing her in overwhelm, I feel really bad! I've been trying to help out more, so cooking-wise, I've learned how to make grilled cheese and little mini pizzas, but that's still a little iffy depending on the day.

Feeling very ambitious, I decided to try to make an organic pumpkin pie from scratch-I mean heck, I already had the pumpkin that was just going to go to waste if I didn't do anything with it(lovingly named Francis) and I figured I would do something I've never done before. I found a recipe online for an organic pumpkin pie and was ready and raring to go!

It took a span of 2 days, but I got everything bought, mixed, pureed, and cooked. Seriously though, as I made this pie, I was waiting for an EPIC.FAIL because:

  1. I've never made anything like this before, let alone from scratch.
  2. Since I hadn't made anything like this before, every step of the pie making process looked funky.

Instead of Epic Fail, I got Epic Success! Although the crust was a little funky...Look at that beautiful piece of edible art below:

This is an ORGANIC pumpkin pie made from SCRATCH with only the best ingredients(although I would have liked to grow the pumpkin myself)!

Here is the Recipe if you would like to give it a try :)

Pie anyone!?

P.s. I'm V.E.R.Y proud of myself!

Featured Blogger Friday(11/13)-Natural Mommie

Happy Friday all! We have a very wonderful and very pregnant featured blogger today: Amanda of Natural Mommie!

She specializes in all things natural and organic, so if you're an eco-friendly guy or gal, you should definitely hop on over to her blog and check it out.

And don't forget to stop by and wish her good energies on her second child-to-be :-)

Q. What’s your name and blog? What other information would you like to share?

The name of my blog is Natural Mommie.

Q. Why did you choose that name for your blog?

I chose Natural Mommie because I wanted to have a blog specific to natural, organic, eco-friendly, eco-chic products and since I'm a mommie, the name ''Natural Mommie'' seemed like a perfectly combined fit!

Q. Why did you start blogging?

Initially, I started blogging to blog about other giveaways I was entering. I was never a mom blogger, so Natural Mommie was a review and giveaway site pretty much from the start. I would get so excited when I'd come across fabulous eco-friendly giveaways, but they were few and far between so I started working towards making Natural Mommie nearly a 100% green giveaway site.

Q. What kind of stuff do you cover with your blog? Is there a specific genre you write about or is the sky the limit?

My niche is organic, natural, eco-friendly, etc. Occasionally I'll slip in products that are not considered eco-friendly because in real life they are products that we use. I wanted to make Natural Mommie a place where women could come, check out some amazing green products, but not leave feeling guilty they used Mr. Clean that day or because their granola isn't organic or because their kids are wearing name brand shoes. It's all about moderation and slowly morphing into a green lifestyle. I think Natural Mommie proves that it can be done, one eco-friendly product at a time, but without the guilt and being extreme about it!

Q. Name one thing you love about your blogging job.

There's too many to list! Honestly, reviewing the products that I do is probably the most exciting part because, like my readers, many of these products are new to me! Many I've never heard of or knew you could purchase, so being able to try something knew that I didn't know about AND have my readers share in that excitement is really great. I enjoy writing and reading...I always have, so for me to sit and write for a few hours each night is relaxing and a way for me to unwind from the day. I also have a lot of fun playing around with my site, making new images, changing fonts...all that stuff. I probably spend too much time making it pretty, but it's a hobby and I love it! I also love that I get to meet readers and company owners from all over the world-there are some truly amazing, kind people out there that I've been so lucky to cross paths with!

Q. Name one thing you're not quite fond of about your blogging job.

Probably the politics behind the mom bloggers. I've had the opportunity to meet a ton of great women, but of course there's always drama popping up somewhere. I stay away from it and keep happy in my little Natural Mommie bubble!

Q. What’s one random fact about you?

I play the piano and love to sing. You can usually find me taking a break from my laptop, sitting at my piano belting out some Fiona Apple! I started playing when I was 9. Maybe younger? I can't remember now!

Q. Inspiration comes in many forms for different people. What inspires you?

I'm sure this isn't an original answer, but my family inspires me. It's amazing how quickly your goals and passions can change when you have a child. My Son, Aidan, inspires me to be a positive person-to see the fun in life even if the situation I'm in isn't ideal, and to remember what it was like to be a kid again. Seeing his face light up when were doing something as simple as playing with playdoh inspires me to be the best mom I can be and give him amazing childhood memories.

Q. Where else can we find you(Personal Website, Etsy Shop, Twitter, Facebook, Etc.)?

I'd love to have you follow me on Facebook and Twitter! Stop by and leave a message! I love my readers..without them, Natural Mommie wouldn't be what it is today!

I'm Here. For How Long, I'm Not Sure.

First off, I wanted to thank all my readers or their supportive comments and just for being there when I was a little out of it. I know that I haven't been blogging like I should be, but like many of you told me in comments and messages, there are other things that take priority-I really need to focus and break my time up evenly.

As of a few days ago, my beading station has been moved and all I need to do is set it up the way I want it and just go to town(don't worry, there will be pictures of the finished product). I'm VERY thrilled that my station is almost put together and I can get back to what I love to do: Bead.

The Christmas season is heading straight for me as fast as it possibly can in my opinion and I don't know if I'm really ready for it. So that's going to be taking up a lot of my time as well-I have quite a few people I need to buy for (or most likely make for), I just need to figure out what I'm going to MAKE.

There are a couple other things that I can't blog about at the moment because they are too raw, but like I said the last time, it's just going to take some time and I'll be fine. Well, one situation more over the other but don't worry-I will be asking for your guys' opinions pretty soon!

Anyway, thank you guys again! It's incredibly nice to know that I can come on here and blog about things and you guys are there to lend whatever it may be I need :-)

Love and Energies to you all!
Kayla

Featured Blogger Friday(11/6)-Boylerpf

I'm not exactly sure where I met Alicia of Boylerpf-Whether it was on one of my many social networking sites, our shared membership in an Etsy team, or whether we just stumbled across one another on the WWW, I'm glad I did :-)

I feel the same energies I put out, in here and that draws me to her-She is a wonderful person and we have so much in common!

It's only natural that I want her on my blog ^.^
So I hope you enjoy her as much as I do; Maybe you will even feel the same connection I do...

Q. What’s your name and blog? What other information would you like to share?

I'm Alicia Boyle and the name of my blog is Boylerpf. I'm an addict for all things old and specialize in selling Victorian through Art Deco era jewelry. There's something about holding a piece of history and imagining the hidden story it could tell.

Q. Why did you choose that name for your blog?

Boylerpf is not a name I normally would have chosen, but it was my business name. When I first started selling antique jewelry years ago, I had to come up with a quick name. At the time we were living on a farm we named Boyle Round Pond Farm. That was too large, so we shortened it to Boylepf. The moniker has remained for years!

Q. Why did you start blogging?

I had no intent of blogging from the beginning, but set the account up so that I could show my daughter (NodtoModVintage) how to blog. I did my first post as an explanation, thought it was rather fun and the rest is history!

Q. What kind of stuff do you cover with your blog? Is there a specific genre you write about or is the sky the limit?

Definitely the sky is the limit! I blog about life with some advice thrown in, interesting facts I run across day to day and a little about life in a small town. I had originally thought I would use it to promote my antique jewelry business giving tidbits of information. I quickly found out I had many more thoughts, opinions and just plain fun that I wanted to share with my readers.

Q. Name one thing you love about your blogging job.

Without a doubt, my favorite thing about blogging are the relationships I have built from every corner of the world. I am a social person and I love talking to people. If your following my blog or leaving a comment, you can guarantee I'll be checking out your blog and commenting! There is such a wealth of information in blog land. I enjoy reading other viewpoints, sharing and caring about others trials and tribulations and getting inspired by others through their photography. Just stepping into their shoes for a time as I'm reading their blog is quite the cathartic venture!

Q. Name one thing your not quite fond of about your blogging job.

Time. There just aren't enough hours in the day to read every blog that I would like to. I end up having to prioritize what I do in a day in order to keep up with an online business which takes up precedence. If I don't blog one day, I almost feel guilty that I didn't spend time with my friends. It can get quite addicting!

Q. What’s one random fact about you?

Just one? I'm the random queen! My favorite piece of clothing has to be my Carhart overalls...I hate the cold! I've appeared in Vogue to Harper's Bazaar in some of the most incredible designer clothing, but I would never live without my overalls. Seems you just can't take the country out of the girl!

Q. Inspiration comes in many forms for different people. What inspires you?

Holding a piece of well made antique jewelry is a total inspiration. I tend to be a visual person, so anytime I touch a piece of antique jewelry, it's almost as if it comes alive. The craftsmanship and more importantly, the history and story that each piece could tell if only it spoke. It's quite a thrill to have these grand dames start a new chapter in their life!

Q. Where else can we find you(Personal Website, Etsy Shop, Twitter, Facebook, Etc.)?

So Many Ideas, Just One Head.

I get to visit my sister today at college!

Well actually, my good friend is interested in the college my sister is at, and she offered to show her around one day-If you hadn't guessed, tomorrow is that day :-)

At the moment, it's 11:35 pm on Tuesday and I'm falling asleep at the keyboard, so I'm making an educated decision and I'm going to skip today's feature(I usually write it the night before and set it to post automatically at 4:00pm the next day).

Actually, there is a couple of things I need to do so I may need to take the rest of the week off.
(Feature wise that is)

I realized that I really have been neglecting my Etsy shops, so I need to get back to listing things, taking pictures, and researching. Hopefully I can get some stuff up by the holidays and figure some sales for the next 2 months.

If you have any advice or suggestions, I'm all ears! They would definitely be appreciated.

Have a good Wednesday ya'll!

Love and Energies.

When it Rains, It Pours{A Contest}

"There is no particular rainy season in Dubai, as might be expected, but there can be rainfall at any time, even in the summer; however, January to March has the most rainfall days."

--Trip Advisor

My friend Grace over at Sandier Pastures is having a contest-If some of you are avid readers of hers, you know that she is a resident of Dubai and that that area is a very desert-prominent.

So what's the contest you ask? And what does it have to do with rain!?

It has EVERYTHING to do with rain, namely, YOU need to predict when Dubai is to have it's first real rainfall of the season. According to Grace, last year's first rainfall was around mid-November, so she wants to know from you all when the first rain will be.

Prize: Something Dubai related(it's a secret so your going to have to wait and see)!

Head on over and choose your lucky date!

Let the rain pour...

She's Baaack {With a Giveaway}

I know-A giveaway on Tuesday!?

Hey, why not? We need a little spontaneity ;-)

10 Parts Fear and 90 Parts Welcoming

The funny thing about this quote is it sums up my feelings about the past few days completely-I mean it's almost like someone or something cosmic slapping me in the face and confirmed what I've been going over and over again in my head; "Should I, Shouldn't I, Should I, Shouldn't I...'

Coming upon this at one of my favorite blogs (Just Jules) helped me come to terms with the fact that I really wouldn't be giving up like I feared continuously in my head-It's just healthier for me to move on with my life at this point.

By no means to I harbor ill will toward these people. I may be a little sore at them about certain events and said words, but ultimately I wish them nothing but the best in life. I just can't handle all the drama and the crap anymore; If you all know me, because of my Lyme, any sort of stress or emotional response causes me physical and emotional pain-Sometimes it's not too bad, and sometimes it's extremely severe.

I've come to that fork in the road some people fear and others welcome. Me? I'm 10 parts fearful and 90 parts welcoming.

It's time to move on.

Mailbox Monday(11/2)

Mailbox Monday divulges into the inner workings of my mailbox throughout the week. From books to jewelry to free samples to random magazines and letters-You never know what will be in the mail this week...

***********************************************************************

1. I got a few lovely cards from some of my friends across the U.S.-One was a thank you(Colorado), another was a fun little hey-how-ya-doin' type card(New York) and the other was a Halloween card from my Yahoo Lymie Group Halloween Card Swap(Same person in New York).

What did you get in the mail last week?

17 Days and Counting

And the countdown begins!

I can't believe I'm turning 20 years old in less then 17 days-It's kind of one of those things you can't wrap your mind around...

My mum keeps denying it when I bring it up-Lol-She says, 'NO! Your turning 5' or 'Will you turn 5 for mommy?'

If I'm not mistakin', I don't think that's physically possible(If It is possible, tell me how to do it so I can give her her wish).

And of course the fact that next year, I'll be the big 2-1.

Wow. Where did the time go?!
