Okay Snow White, Enough Crap!

With all this hubbub(Yes, I did say the word 'hubbub') about the new Diamond Edition of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs everywhere I go, I got a little sentimental.

I hadn't seen Snow White in years-God, it has to be at least 10 to 12 years since the last time! So I figured 'what the hell' and I found it and watched it just for shits and giggles...

I've never thought about myself as a hardcore feminist until I watched That. Movie.

I wish I could say no offense, but I really can't-Offense should be taken! And you wonder why women are objectified in today's society everywhere you look-Television, Books and Magazines, 'Real Life' situations. I mean COME THE EFF ON:

  • What girl let's herself be treated as a peasant girl and SINGS about it!? I can appreciate keeping on the positive side of things, but that's just going overboard. People (girls in particular) should know they are better then that even if the situations are grim. You make your own in the world-Nobody else makes it for you!
  • Animals don't swarm around you if your a princess-Yeah, I know this is irrelevant to my point, but when I was a little girl I thought if I acted like a princess, animals would flock to me and was very disappointed when I found out it wasn't true. It's a sore spot, alright!?
  • Handsome men on white steeds don't fall out of the sky and serenade you.
  • How stupid do they think girls are to open a door to a strange old hag in a black cape that cackles while home alone? ' Yes suspicious looking character attempting to thrust an apple into my mouth, come in and sit down.'
  • Your handsome man on his white steed isn't going to come and bring you back from the dead-Or rescue you in any way. Of course there will always be a chance for that(I'm not trying to kill the dream), but it's not healthy to obsess over that slim chance.

This is what we want to teach our children and grand kids? That we need a man to protect us because we are weak and to just settle when life gets a little tough?

I do not apologize for being a strong, independent woman that is very connected to her spiritual and feminine side. There is so much more to me then being 'that woman.'

As you can tell, I'm passionate about this subject and when whipped into a frenzy, I 'lash out' for lack of a better phrase. It's just sad to see these people thinking they aren't good enough and settling for the next best thing in life.

Thanks for listening to my rantings! I know it's just a movie to some people, but to me, movies can be very affective on teaching and instilling life lessons in kids-And in my opinion, Disney movies are crap.

Love and Energies.

This is my own opinion and I was not compensated in anyway {Happy Damn FTC!?}

I haven't seen the movie since I was young either and I had the opportunity to review it. It's a movie, not real life - lol. I think it is a contributor to so many girls get the idea that they want a Prince Charming or "the one." Thanks for sharing your thoughts girl :)
