Mailbox Monday(8/31)

Mailbox Monday divulges into the inner workings of my mailbox throughout the week. From books to jewelry to free samples to random magazines and letters-You never know what will be in the mail this week...

***********************************************************************

1. I finally got a necklace that I won a while back from my blogging friend Graces blog, Sandier Pastures(although it was my fault the necklace was delayed-That's a story for another day though). It's absolutely stunning! It's from Lillyella on Etsy which has a wide variety of some very beautiful jewelry pieces to choose from. I had picked this out for a friend and I can't wait to give it to her!!

2. I have been wanting to try this new product out called Ooba, which is a drink infused with different floral essences and thanks to Valerie of Sweeps4Bloggers, I have not 1 chance to try this out, but 3(I got 3 coupons redeemable for 3 bottles of Ooba)! Now to find out where around here carries them =]

3. So apparently when you get random pieces of mail offering you deals on larger items like cars, it means your credit is good! I did not realize this and my mum kindly informed me of that little detail-I'm quite excited now!!

Featured Blogger Friday-FreeSampleFreak

I love Brandie! If you haven't heard of her site before now, then you are missing out MAJORLY-Seriously, she has some of the best freebies this side of the W.W.W.

(where she finds them all, no idea but I don't complain Lol)

It's only right that for all she has provided for me, I try to return the favor ;-) Sooooo, let's take a trip over and see Brandie at her blog, Free Sample Freak!

Q. What's your name and your blog? What other information would you like to share?

Brandie, Free Sample Freak (http://www.freesamplefreak.com/), I am a lucky mom of a four and three year old. I love finding new ways to save everyday and I am addicted to free samples. =D

Q. Why did you choose that name for your blog?

I actually had several names in mind, but they were all taken...finally Free Sample Freak just came to me...I think it fits perfectly though!

Q. Why did you start blogging?

I am a stay at home mom and my husband is a teacher. We all know how underpaid teachers are! We were buying a house and I started looking for coupons online for ways to save at the grocery store...then I found the world of free samples! I was addicted immediately. It really has changed our lives and helped us in so many ways. I wanted to help spread the word to help other people who struggled too!

Q. What kind of stuff do you cover with your blog? Is there a specific genre you write about or is the sky the limit?

I blog about free samples, coupons, hot deals, new ways to save and so much more. My blog is an all around make money, save money, get stuff for free blog!

Q. Name one thing that you love about your blogging job.

I love being able to help people and I absolutely love all the comments and interaction I have with my readers. I have the most faithful and awesome readers and my blog's success would not be possible without them!

Q. Name one thing your not so fond of about your blogging job.

HaHa...ummm..lack of sleep. I sneak out of bed at 4am every morning to start blogging. This is a very peaceful and quiet time in my house. I used to get up at 5 and then I decided that wasn't early enough. I have too much to blog about, lol. I always need more time!

Q. What's one random fun fact about you?

I am a big goober and I laugh out loud to myself and at myself all the time!

Q. Inspiration comes in many forms for different people. What inspires you?

This is a tough question. There are so many things that inspire me!

Q. Any advice for other bloggers?

You have to love what you do..and not just in blogging but in life in general! Blogging is not as easy as most people think..it does require a lot of time and a lot of effort!

Q. Where else can we find you(Etsy shop, other blog, Twitter, Facebook, etc)?

Baby I am everywhere, haha!

You can be my friend on Facebook, be my Fan, Follow me on Networked Blogs...I could go on all day! :)

Health Update Thursday(8/27)

I'm sorry I haven't been quite 'here' the past few weeks-Ever since we moved my sister into her dorm and she went away to college, it's been a blur of days running into nights because I'm not sleeping again and it's bad...

I feel guilty that I'm behind on my features and giveaways and emails, but I just can't seem to get into things-Whether it's the lack of sleep or the full moon within the week, or both, I have no idea.

Physically I'm doing very well. I'm walking quite well(with immense pain, but no pain no gain right?!). I do have to take it very slow each day because I don't want to overdo and end up backsliding back to bed rest.

Mentally, however is a different story. Like for instance, this little message is taking me an hour to write because I can't concentrate and things slip easily away from me.

If I haven't gotten back to you, I promise Its not because I haven't tried. For those features I haven't finished, I'm sorry and I thank you for your patience. I think I need to take a few days off until I can actually concentrate.

Love and Energies.

Mailbox Monday(8/24)

Mailbox Monday divulges into the inner workings of my mailbox throughout the week. From books to jewelry to free samples to random magazines and letters-You never know what will be in the mail this week...

***********************************************************************

Sadly, this week hasn't been very eventful when it comes to the mailbox. I did receive a few random odds and ends such as an application for student loans(like I can use that...*rolls eyes*) and a coupon for Victoria's Secret(which really went to my mum, but she gave it to me). I did, however, receive a lovely thank you card from a lymie friend out west, so that was a pleasant surprise.

But other then that, nodda! Oh well, hopefully this week provides more fruitful Lol

Gonna be M.I.A. for a Few Days

Hey guys! I know I have been neglecting my duties as a blogger, but I have good reason-I swear!

It has been a mad house around here the past week due to my sister going off to college on the 20th of August. Of course there is all the running around town for necessities and other random 'O.M.G-I-NEED-THAT' things, the crazy dash around the house to find out what she can take down with her that would save us some much needed $$$, and the whole packing process in general...It's just insanity.

My mum is freaking out because there is so much to do and not enough time to get it all done. One thing that needed to get done no matter what was getting new phones and we FINALLY got them phones today, so we can check that off the to do list. That's a story for another day though, which is wrought with danger and some definite pissed-offness.

(I <333 my new phooooooooone)!

Anyway, I just felt bad that I haven't been doing a lot with the blog and that I've missed a few featured artist posts the past week. Oh, and if I haven't gotten back to you, it doesn't mean I'm ignoring you(I swear)! Once we move my sister in on Thursday, things will die back down around here and I can get back to my blogging universe.

Although, this all gives me some new material to write about :D

Thank you all for understanding!

Love and Energies.

You Best Check that Corn!!

As some of you know, I have been walking a little bit here and there with the help of Johnny(my walker). Well Saturday, I started walking much, much better! Actually, I didn't even have to use Johnny some of the times either. So you can imagine why I want to be up and around the house...

Well I decided to venture out into the front room where the rest of the family was kinda using the walker and kinda not and just standing there talking to my family. Imagine my surprise when I see a little black thing dart from under the couch to under my beading station...

I froze.

My family noticed and before they could ask, I yelped, 'I think I just saw a mouse!!!' Of course I couldn't be sure that's EXACTLY what I saw because it was just out of the corner of my eye, but like good little men of the house, my dad and sister's boyfriend started to rummage around under my work station-All the while the females of the house jumped up on the couch(excluding me-I jumped up on Johnny Lmao).

I still laugh at what happened next. Out of nowhere, my mum screeches(and I do mean screeches) '*AHHHH* HE'S OVER THERE!' Although, it kind of sounded like, 'AHHHHYHESOVERTHERE!!!!'

Chaos ensues with mum dumping out a container for my dad to catch the little bugger, my dad and sister's boyfriend closing in on the spot where the culprit had last been seen, my sister holding the dog so he doesn't get in the way, my dog barking and jumping all around cause he had seen the scampering little fur-ball, and me, still on top of Johnny. Lol

It ended up the mouse ran into the bathroom my sister and I share so we just shut the door for a little bit to regroup.

After a while of us debating on the pros and cons of killing vs. letting go, we decided to let him go(after a forceful argument from my sister and I that went something like, "He has a little mouse family so were letting him go!" *evil eye*).

Here are some pictures I took:

Here is the little trouble maker(although, he is quite a little cutie). And don't worry, he really isn't that hairy-We just haven't swept the bathroom linen closet in forever *hangs head in shame*

I asked my sister's boyfriend, Our Mouse Catcher, to pose with his catch, but the little butthead wouldn't. Lol

I thought we should have let him go in the field down the street, but apparently they thought the front yard was okay.

So hopefully the little guy doesn't find a way to come back into the house and goes back to his own family somewhere with an interesting story to tell. On a different note, were not exactly sure where he came from either-Were thinking he came with the organic corn my mum and dad purchased at a local farmer's market that morning...

Moral of the story-Check your corn before you bring it home.

Mailbox Monday(8/17)

Mailbox Monday divulges into the inner workings of my mailbox throughout the week. From books to jewelry to free samples to random magazines and letters-You never know what will be in the mail this week...

***************************************************************************

1. First off, let me tell you all that this win was a complete surprise! Not only did I not remember entering for the book, I have no idea where I entered for it!! I was just left a comment on one of my posts saying I won, so I sent my info and received my book-But that's not all...When I got my book in the mail, I was flipping through it and my mouth fell open: It was AUTOGRAPHED! I don't think I have ever gotten a signed book in my life...I was so excited, I could barely contain myself(plus it helps that the book is by one of my favorite authors) :D

2. A while back, I was informed that I had won something from SheBlogs.org(which like #1, was a complete surprise). Well it arrived at the beginning of the week and O.M.G...It's so awesome! They sent me my own breakfast blend of coffee-Personalized and everything! Just take a look at the above pictures and be amazed :D

3. I don't know how I keep getting random business magazines, but one of the magazines that I'm 'subscribed to' is Inc. So I got one of those in the mail along with a few other things(that was a great mail day for me). Why do I receive these you ask? I have no idea. I figure one of these days they will have something useful in them that will make me a millionaire...

One can only hope.

4. Valerie over at Sweeps4Bloggers has done it again!! Okay, well technically I won, but she sent me a wonderful book as a prize which I can't wait to read. And yes, it's another self help type of book(you all know how I loooooove those)!

5. You all know Robin of Robin Maria Pedrero, who is currently holding a contest for a 4x7 Original Artistic Print(Enter Now!) and who I did a feature for last Friday(Read Here)-Well, she was just too sweet and sent me a little thank you care package that I absolutely fell head over heels for! I just can't get over how beautiful her work is(If you haven't seen any of it, I highly, HIGHLY suggest hoppin' on over to her shop or entering her giveaway).

6. And on a less exciting note, I got a credit card bill(which has a balance of zero F.Y.I.) and some sort of voting card...I know, useless info, but hey, they were in my mailbox! Lol

Here is to a happy Monday!

Slapdash Sunday(8/16)

Slapdash Sunday is a day for your proverbial week 'leftovers.' Is there something you wanted to say, but just forgot? Is there something you want to write about, but isn't worth a whole page? Do you have a random thought, funny or otherwise that needs to be written down?

That is what Slapdash Sunday is for!

1. Sometimes, people can be very innovative when it comes to crafting and arts-Fashion is no different! Thanks to Dee of Runako Designs Girls Night Out, I got to see a few unique fashion statements. Let's just say there is A LOT of protection packed into those outfits. Lmao. Take a look for yourself!

2. I know it's a few days late, but Happy 19th Birthday to my friend Christine!! I'm very proud of my present I made for her(I'm working on another project so hopefully there will be pictures to look forward to)!

3. Speaking of projects in the works, I'm still thinking through the last one I mentioned so thank you for being patient! I know this is going to help all of us in the long run ^.^

Featured Blogger Friday-Pour Some Sugar On Me

Welcome to another Featured Blogger Friday! This Friday, we have a fellow blogger that some of you all may know-She has a tremendous addiction to sugar(although that could be a multitude of people around here-Lol-) and is just plain fun!

The Eclectic Element welcomes Erin of Pour Some Sugar On Me!!

Q. What's your name and your blog? What other information would you like to share?

My name is Erin S-M otherwise known as "mamabearmills" around the blogosphere. My blog is "Pour Some Sugar On Me" at www.toomuchsugar4u.blogspot.com. I was born and raised in Las Vegas, NV and STILL live here. My hubby and I have been married since May 29, 2007 and have 2 awesome children.

Q. Why did you choose that name for your blog?

I LOVE SWEETS. PERIOD. I also love Rock n Roll so I wanted it to incorporate both things....hence "Pour Some Sugar On Me!!!"

Q. Why did you start blogging?

I originally started another blog just for family updates. Once I saw how many other blogs out there were doing different things, I started this blog which isn't for the family, per se. I wanted to be able to interact with other parents and be able to post my thoughts on life for others as well.

Q. What kind of stuff do you cover with your blog? Is there a specific genre you

write about or is the sky the limit?

There really isn't one certain topic of theme here at Pour Some Sugar On Me. One thing I like to incorporate into each post is a little bit of laughter, and I also like a little punk edge. I want readers to come and get a laugh, even if they are reading a product review. I am really turned off when I go to a blog and it bores me. I hope I never do that to any of my readers!

Q. Name one thing that you love about your blogging job.

I totally am a sucker for comment love. Not just to say I got a certain number of comments, but I love feedback and to hear how others react to what I have to say...whether it's good or bad. I also like doing product reviews for companies that interest me.

Q. Name one thing your not so fond of about your blogging job.

Hmmmm....dealing with inconsiderate people. I'm glad most of the bloggers out there aren't disrespectful, but there's a handful that irritate the CRAP outta' me. LOL. Sometimes the politics gets annoying too. Kind of like the politics with this PR Blackout right now.

Q. What's one random fun fact about you?

This is always a hard question for some reason. Let's see....Ok, I was in People magazine when I was in college. I modeled for a School post they featured! Did I mention that I love sweets?

Q. Inspiration comes in many forms for different people. What inspires you?

People who are real and never stray from their true selves. I think it's great when people don't change who they really are just to fit in!

Q. Any advice for other bloggers?

Like I said above, BE REAL.

Q. Where else can we find you(Etsy shop, other blog, Twitter, Facebook, etc)?

I'm on Twitter @mamabear123. I have a Facebook, but really don't use it for blogging purposes personally.

Health Update Thursday(8/13)

Nothing really to report this week.

I have been doing better on Johnny(my walker). Funny story about that-One of my Lymie friends told me I should paint it red and call it 'Johnny Walker Red,' so that is what I did! Lol Well, not paint it red, but I did name it Johnny :D

Anyway, Instead of crawling everywhere, I have been walking with Johnny and I seem to be getting stronger. I have attempted a little without the walker, but my equilibrium is way off so I'm afraid of falling and breaking something(which I would rather not do thank you very much).

The only thing is I haven't been feeling well the past few days, but unlike the other times, I know why. I went to the local state fair and, well, ate myself sick. Lol It was worth it though because that's what I love about those types of events-The food ;-)

Like I said, not a lots happening. Thanks for checkin in!

Love and Energies.

Starry Night: Last Night's Meteor Shower

I had the privilege of staying outside on our back deck last night and watching the meteor shower. I haven't been able to do that in a very long time and it was one of the greatest experiences I've had-I remember way back(about a year or so ago) when my friends and I would make a night of just laying outside and watching the stars.

I missed that and last night helped me realize I can do that again, just in a different way.

If you missed the shower last night, you missed something truly amazing! A lot of different places quoted different times the shower would peak, but I found that around 11:00pm-12:00am was the strongest(I stayed out until 1:00am, but didn't see much).

I saw some of the most beautiful meteors I've ever seen too-It was like you could actually see them burning up in Earth's atmosphere in a brilliant red/orange/yellow color...

What I don't get is not a lot of people were able to see ANY meteors-When I talk to some of my friends and other random people, they told me they didn't see a thing. I wonder if it was just because of the city lights?

Anyway, I'm going to try to go back out tonight and see if I can catch some more. Truth be told, I just enjoy being under the stars :-)

On an off topic, the family is going to go shopping today so I have decided to skip Wednesday's featured artist. My sister goes off to college in a week(YIKES), so were all getting last minute shopping details done, helping her pack and decided what to take, etc.

But that's another post.

Have a great Wednesday everyone!

Girlies Only: Shaving your Legs

So, how do you start any life lesson story?
With a Golden Girls quote.

Blanche: "I prefer to be smooth under my arms and from my ankle to the top of my thigh..."
Rose: "Get outta here."
Blanche: "What?"
Rose: *In disbelief* "You shave above the knee?!"
Blanche: "Well of course."
Rose: "Get outta here!"
Blanche: "Surely Rose, you have heard of woman shaving above the knee..."
Rose: *Looks around in confusion* "...Get outta here!!"
Dorthy: "Rose, you say that one more time and we will!"
Rose: "I've never heard of anything like that before-When men see that you shave your legs above the knee, what does that say to them?"
Blanche: "Hopefully it says touch my leg."

Okay, life lesson over. Here is where the funny story comes in: I have never shaved my legs above the knee. I never really thought I needed to because my mum always said if I did, I would regret it-So I never did.

Well, you can believe my surprise when I realized that my sister shaves above the knee! In fact she shaved her whole damn leg!! I asked her when she did that and she kindly informed me with a look that said 'you idiot,' that she has always shaved her whole leg...

A few days later I was taking a shower and I had time to kill so I thought what the hell and just shaved both of my legs 'from my ankle to the top of my thigh' and lo and behold, a little light shone down on me and I realized, what the hell had I been doing the last 10 years of my life!?!?!

At that moment, I felt like Rose when Blanche told her she shaved above the knee(hence the Golden Girl/Life Lesson quote). I even went out when I was done with all my bathroom activities and used the reference with my mum(and she had quite a hearty laugh at my expense...although I had a hearty laugh at my expense, too)!

I never realized how much that simple feet could boost your moral and make you feel....beautiful? Yeah, I suppose that is a good descriptive word. It's amazing how something so simple can profoundly change a person.

Thanks for sticking around to hear my life lesson! Any thoughts on the matter? I would love to hear what you all have to say :-)

Love and Energies.

TechNest Report(TNR)-A Story.

Story time! Gather round, gather round-I want to tell you story of a girl who found a band she absolutely adored(The Filthy Souls). Ever since she discovered them on a favorite television show(10 Things I Hate About You), she has been listening to their Myspace Music Page none stop, over and over again (I know...Sad).

She looked them up on iTunes, but alas, she was too cheap to purchase the $13 sum dollars worth of songs they had out already.

"Hey," she thought, "Why don't I enter some contests for a gift card and see if I can get lucky!" So she began entering contests she found on Google(cause she has mad skillz like that). This one site she came upon was called Technest Report. Looking around a bit, she found a contest and entered it thinking she had nothing to lose...

Guess what!?

She was contacted the very next day saying she had won! Now how freakin' lucky is that!?!?

The End.

TechNest Report is a website that 'covers, reviews, and analyzes the tech industry from head to toe.' Going through their website more thoroughly, I have found some very interesting tips and tricks dealing with the latest and greatest in technology and their brands! Some of which are:

Not only do they have information on technology and brands, they also offer information on social media networks such as Google and Twitter. They also have a section for Media and Tips.

One of the TechNest team has asked me a question, and this is your chance to have your opinion heard!

What would you guys be interested in seeing more of over at TechNest Report?

Would you guys like to see more helpful tips and tricks, or are you guys more interested in reading about what's new in the technology world?

Let us know in a comment! And while your at it, check out TechNest Report to see what they have to offer for you.

The Leaky Collection: Helping People and the Environment

About a month or so ago, I got the extreme pleasure of winning some very beautiful strands of Zulugrass from a website called The Leaky Collection. Now, you know me, I'm all for helping a great cause no matter what it may be, so when I received my jewelry and read a little about what I had won, I was all for writing up a feature!!

Not exactly sure what Zulugrass jewelry is? Here is a brief description of the product from their website:

"Strands of colorful grass beads strung with sparkling Czech glass beads for a stunning effect.
Handcrafted by Maasai women of Kenya."

The Leaky Collection was started by Katy and Phillip Leaky back in 2001 when they found themselves living in the rural Rift Valley of Kenya, among the Maasai people. Phillip Leaky is known in Kenya for his dedication towards improving conditions for all Kenyan's with particular focus on the areas of business opportunity and the environment, were his wife, Katy Leaky is an artist and designer who's interest has been connecting diverse cultures through understanding one anothers motivations.

Combining their two talents, they created something truly wonderful-Helping the local Maassai people and their community.

Using natural elements such as fallen wood and the grass of their native lands, these people create wonderful works of wearable art that are both economically supportive and environmentally friendly. Don't take my word for it though, just sign onto their website and look through the amazing pieces of jewelry they have!

I was lucky enough to receive 5 strands of different colored Zulugrass necklaces and three of their new bracelet ZuluSport Bracelets! These are so beautiful-They came with instructions and you would not believe how many different ways you could wear them! I count 8, but I'm sure if your really creative, you can find more :-)

Since this program has started, the people of Kenya have produced in a non factory setting:

  • 600 million beads
  • 5.5 miles of fringe
  • over 1200 jobs have been created
  • over 10,000 people are supported by the work generated from assembling Zulugrass and other Leaky products
I'm so happy I could be a part of this wonderful program! If you have a chance, visit The Leaky Collection website and read up on some more of the good things being done to help people and the environment.

Love and Energies.

Julie and Julia*Movie Review*

Synopsis:

Present day-Queens, New York.

Julie Powell(Amy Adams) is just a regular person living life as best she can, however, life in general isn't treating her so wonderfully-She is in a job that leaves her emotionally drained at the end of the day, her friends are all hot shot success stories that seem to rub it in her face every time they get together, and she has been forced to move to small apartment that she is less then thrilled about. The only thing that she finds joy in is coming home to her husband(Chris Messina) and cooking because at the end of the day, cooking is dependable. One crazy night, Julie decides to write a blog all about her journey to cook through Julia Child's cookbook in the length of one year.

Rewind 40 years to Paris, France.

Julia Child(Meryl Streep) just moved to Paris with her husband(Stanley Tucci). She is a driven woman who doesn't want to be classified as one of the housewives that don't do a darn thing, so she decided to do something with herself. After a few try and fails, she finally realizes that the one thing that brings her joy(food) can also be what she occupies her time with. Upon that realization, she starts classes at a local food school. Throughout her dream, she had to overcome prejudice, disgruntled people, some tragedies and not-so-fun situations, but eventually, she overcomes it all!

As these two true stories intermingle with one another, each woman goes on a journey-Both journeys started off with the love of food and both ended with finding true joy. Even though their stories are somewhat different in the middle, in both you can find truth, inspiration, realization and some humor. Not to mention some amazing looking food!

My Thoughts:

I was lucky enough to get to see this with two of my friends that I hadn't seen in quite a long time! This movie was quite different then I imaged when I first saw the previews. I'm not quite sure how I feel about the movie itself-It was really cute and a great story, but It really wasn't my type of movie.

The acting was extremely wonderful and the fact that it was a true story made the movie's appeal much more stronger. I did enjoy how both stories transported you from back in time to the present day and how they both sucked you in to where you were actually feeling along with the characters.

I do think this movie is more for the older generation, though. I think those people who can actually remember watching Julia Child cooking on television will enjoy this movie more then the current generation.

Ultimately, it's worth the watch.

**This is an opinion solely based on my thoughts and opinions of the movie in question and no one elses. I was not influenced one way or another to write the subject matter in this review, so if you don't like it or don't agree with it, that is your choice and I fully respect it so please extend me the same curtsy**

Slapdash Sunday(8/9)

Slapdash Sunday is a day for your proverbial week 'leftovers.' Is there something you wanted to say, but just forgot? Is there something you want to write about, but isn't worth a whole page? Do you have a random thought, funny or otherwise that needs to be written down?

That is what Slapdash Sunday is for!

3. I'm almost done with a big project I'm working with, so after that is done I can get back to my jewelry designing(because right now, my station is overrun with scrapbooking miscellaneous).

2. My phone is seriously pissing me the eff off! I need to get a new phone and soon before this phone find's it's life in jeopardy(which is already happening whenever it shuts off on me). If you are on U.S. Cellular, DO NOT get the LG Rumor.

Just don't.

3. Thanks to Max of Krafty Max Originals and Ruthie of Rose Works Jewelry, I have an idea brewing in my mind that could help with spreading the word about our businesses...I need to write things out and tweak a few things before I write a post about it and set it in motion-Stay tuned!

Health Update Thursday on Saturday(8/8)

I know, I know-This Health Update Thursday post is a little late...But better late then never right?

The reason it was late is because I have been feeling massively drained the past few days, and no, not my normal fatigued self. MASSIVELY is the correct terminology when referring to the state I have been in. It all started on Thursday when I had an appointment with a medical intuitive.

Yes, I said Medical Intuitive.

For those of you who don't believe in that 'voodoo' turn back now! I am a very strong believer in that side of things; We can refer to it as the right brain if you will. It was strangely justifying to go to this woman too because I didn't feel as if I was alone in the right brained side anymore.

If your not aware, chronically ill people are more in tune with their intuitive sides-Not exactly sure why, but we just are. I have had many different experiences with my intuition, the paranormal, and other different spiritual things that I probably shouldn't get into because I'd scare the bejeesus out of you guys(those stories can be for another time).

Anyway, this lady was just so amazing! She did her own version of muscle testing on me, but instead of pushing down on my arm like most doctors would do, she used her own intuition to decipher what I could and couldn't have, what I had in my body, what treatments would work, etc. It was all so interesting!

After we figured out what was what, she 'wrapped and zapped me.' This basically means she gave me something much like a large magnet that sends out electricity into your body and put me in a big bunch of blankets which looked like tin foil(I was a regular baked potato ha ha).

Maybe that's what made me so tired? She did give us some stuff to take so we will be starting that tomorrow and seeing what happens. In the mean time, I think I'm just going to relax and see if this horrible dragging feeling will go away-On top of that since I'm so fatigued, you would think I can sleep.

Think again.

I'm so damn tired of not sleeping! From now on I'm just going to grab those Zs where I can whether that be a nap in the afternoon or drugging myself for some precious ours of shut eye.

I can't think of anything else to update you guys on at the moment...If you have any questions about the medical intuitive, just ask away! It's very hard to explain what she did in a blog so I welcome questions =]

Until next time.

Love and Energies.

Featured Blogger Friday-Fairy Blog Mother

Welcome to another Featured Blogger Friday where every week, I feature a different blogger.

Today's blogger just so happens to be the sweet and sassy(not to mention extremely sarcastic) Annette of Fairy Blog Mother.

Trust me when I say you are never bored reading her daily posts! Lol I have so much fun reading her blog, that I wanted to take this opportunity to share it with all of you and spread the good humor around!

Q. What's your name and your blog? What other information would you like to share?

My name is Annette and I am the weirdo behind Fairy Blog Mother blog. I am 31 years old...married...mother to three kids, ages 13, 7 and 2. And like Valerie, (last week's featured blogger) I'm going to be a crazy cat lady one day.

Q. Why did you choose that name for your blog?

I wanted to pick something that people would remember. Fairy Blog Mother isn't totally original...but it's memorable.

Q. Why did you start blogging?

I had a personal blog that was being over run with blog giveaway entries. So I started a new blog just for my entries...then I figured why not have giveaways of my own? And now you all probably think my personal blog posts are getting in the way of my giveaways. ;)
My personal blog has pretty much been abandoned.

Q. What kind of stuff do you cover with your blog? Is there a specific genre you write about or is the sky the limit?

Is "smart-ass" a genre?
I write about whatever I want, whenever I want. A majority of my posts are reviews and giveaways. But I like writing about everything. I attend a lot of concerts and go to the movies often so I share my opinion of those things. Funny stories about my kids and some memes...because memes are fun damn it.

Q. Name one thing that you love about your blogging job.

I've always wanted to be a writer. A poet to be exact...when I realized that a majority of famous poets are dead (and some died horribly) I changed my mind LOL. I've always loved writing...so the whole writing aspect part of it is my favorite. And when people comment that something I've written has made them laugh...well, that just makes my ego swell and I love it...I won't lie. I have no shame. LOL

Q. Name one thing your not so fond of about your blogging job.

It would be nice to be paid for the work I do.
It's a lot of work to blog (the way that I blog). To organize reviews and giveaways, moderate comments, draw winners, email everyone and their dog about this and that. And yes, I am compensated with free products for the most part. But it is still a lot of work. But I love it...I get to "pretend to be a writer" and play Santa Claus.

Q. What's one random fun fact about you?

I do not have any wisdom teeth. They do not show up on my dental x-rays and I have never had them removed. My dentist says I'm lucky. I have to agree.

*BONUS*
Have you ever sang "Like A Virgin" at a karaoke bar while you were 8 months pregnant? I have!
(I was the DD...obviously)

Q. Inspiration comes in many forms for different people. What inspires you?

Oh, I could write some sappy paragraph about about how my children inspire me to stay young at heart and blah, blah, yada, yada. Which is all true...but zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

In junior high school it was Jim Morrison (The Doors) who inspired me to start writing poetry.
Eating at McDonald's inspires me to stay away from the bathroom scale.
Drinking one beer usually inspires me to drink another...and another...and before long I'm sleeping off my inspiration. (this also applies to margaritas)

One smart-ass remark usually inspires another...

Q. Any advice for other bloggers?

Be yourself.
When I started blogging I was actually censoring myself a bit by not swearing in my posts, keeping the sarcasm to a minimum...I didn't (and still don't!) want to offend anyone. But then I just said screw this...this is my blog, I'm doing this my way. If people don't like it they won't read it and there's nothing you can do about it...so don't sweat it.

Don't be afraid to ask for help from other bloggers. I've contacted many (many!) and every single one of them have helped me and answered my questions. I've "met" a lot of great people just by reaching out and asking for help.

Q. Where else can we find you(Etsy shop, other blog, Twitter, Facebook, etc)?

Spotlight on PR

Spotlight

This is a wonderful opportunity that I just came upon the other day thanks to on of my blogger friends Melissa at Outnumbered 3 to 1. Spotlight on PR is sponsored by Tara over at Feels Like Home and Adrienne over at Adrienne's House. I believe I speak for all of us who are participating when I say a BIG thank you for this amazing chance :D

Here is a little about me:

My name is Kayla and I am about to turn 20 years old in November(scary thought!). Even though I graduated from high school back in 2008, I haven't been able to attend college due to a chronic illness I have(for more information on that, check out my About Me Section). What do I do now that I have 24 hours out of 24 hours free you may ask? Well I have a wide variety of likes and activities I try to occupy myself with during the day, some of which include:

  • Reading-To say I'm an avid reader is an insult! It goes way beyond 'avid,' in my opinion...I LOVE to read anything and everything I get my hands on. In fact, I just discovered that I can request books from the local library on line!! So let's just say we make frequent trips at least twice a week.
  • Arts and Crafts-Thanks in most part to my mother, I have been brought up in a very crafty household. You name it, I have either tried it or plan on trying it in the future. Some of my 'main' crafts include: Scrapbooking, jewelry design, knitting and crocheting. Of course there is more, but those are my 'main staples.'
  • Nature-It hurts my heart to not be able to go outside and be in nature. For the past 9 months, the closest I have gotten to being outside is sitting on the front porch >.<>
  • Computer and Technology-I'm usually a very modest person, but when it comes to the computer and different types of technology, I have no problem in saying I'm pretty good(Granted, I'm no computer major, but I make do) . I enjoy new technology and seeing what capabilities it has, as well as, surfing the Internet to see what I can find that's interesting.
  • Learning-Just because I'm out of school, doesn't mean I don't love to learn. Just the opposite, I wish I could be in school! There is so much I want to learn and do as I grow up that it's sometimes overwhelming =]
  • Helping People-I think this one is self explanatory. Actually, this is most of the reason I started The Eclectic Element-To help crafters and artists like me get the word out about their stores and products. As I started doing that, my blog slowly but continually started to grow into something that I'm extremely happy and proud to call my own.

Enough babble about me! Now onto my blog:

The Eclectic Element is just what the name suggests-An eclectic mix of different types of features, product reviews, giveaways and life in general as it comes at me. This blog is as much for my readers as it is for me and my Etsy shop(probably even more so). I believe in the people and products I review and feature; If I didn't then I wouldn't feature or review them! My views and opinions are all my own and I strongly believe in telling it like it is.

If your interested in talking with me or have any questions regarding myself or my blog, you can view my Contact Me Page for more information and details or you can just email me directly at TheEclecticElement@yahoo.com

Love and Energies to All!

Mailbox Monday(8/3)

Mailbox Monday divulges into the inner workings of my mailbox throughout the week. From books to jewelry to free samples to random magazines and letters-You never know what will be in the mail this week...

*************************************************************************************

1. Awhile back I did a Feature and Giveaway for one amazing Etsy shop, Stratus Silver Jewelery Co. While doing the feature, I fell head over heels with their products and hemmed and hawed about buying myself something all night-I finally decided to go for it(surprise surprise) and I got the package in the mail on Monday. I'm so happy I decided to order because this jewelry has great meaning for me and It will represent what I believe in whenever I wear it!

2. Curtsy of My Blog Spark, I have been able to contribute to a few Betty Crocker magazines and one of those was sent to me in the mail on Tuesday I believe. It looks so amazing-'Cookies & Bars: 116 Recipe Cards" and much more. Keep an eye out for this issue on newsstands soon!

I can't wait to try a few of those yummy lookin' recipes out ;-)

3. OH. MY. GOD. I'm sitting here in a pair of AMAZING yoga pants from Shining Shakti that I won from Evie over at Product Pasha and two words come to mind: Pure.Heaven. I was afraid when I opened the package that they would be too small for me(since they looked incredibly tiny), but once I put them on, it's like they were made just for me! Most comfortable pair of pants EVER.

Slapdash Sunday(8/2)

Slapdash Sunday is a day for your proverbial week 'leftovers.' Is there something you wanted to say, but just forgot? Is there something you want to write about, but isn't worth a whole page? Do you have a random thought, funny or otherwise that needs to be written down?

That is what Slapdash Sunday is for!

*************************************************************************************

1. I hit over 200 blog follower and over 50 blog subscribers this week!! Not to forget over 300 posts on Wednesday :D

2. My mother and father both have a Facebook account now. Guess who had to help them for over 2 hours?! Lol That's okay-It was so fun seeing how excited they got over a simple social media site.

3. Seriously people if your going to take your pet with you on errands, CRACK A FREAKIN' WINDOW! When I had my mini vacation the other day, we pulled beside this huge van, all windows closed(it had to be nearly 90 degrees in the car) with a poor little pup panting inside! I can't tell you how my mother and I were so angry at the peope's carelessness. We were parked there for nearly 20 minutes eating and the S.O.Bs finally come out and leave. Rawr! I'm going to make flyers and carry them around just for that occasion.

*I laughed so hard when I heard that one-It's so true too!

Happy Weekend Everyone!

I just wanted to let you all know that your going to have to deal without my smiling face and happy demeanor this weekend due to a project I just HAVE to get done before Tuesday.

On somewhat of the same topic, there are A LOT of Birthdays these past few months!! Seriously, is it just me who noticed this or do I just have too many friends? Lol

Yeah your right...You can't have too many friends :D

Anyway have a wonderful and safe weekend and I shall talk to you all Monday!

Love and Energies.
